I will agree with you to the point where I will say that was the best I've seen an X team look over a 3 day period, against a very strong field of teams, and they certainly have the potential to be one of the best, and perhaps the best ever. I don't want to jinx the season, or get to far ahead of myself yet, but I really see this team being very very special. The depth they have is certainly the best I can ever remember in my 45+ years of watching them.

Love the enthusiasm, but HOLD UP! That '08 team had just as much talent AND had significantly more experienced guards. Also, they defended like their life depended on it. I've said that I think this team could be just as good, but a season is a marathon not a sprint. Let's see how they do against better competition, and when they have an off game. Also, we haven't played a team that can matchup to our size.

The best part is this team still has room for improvement. The Frosh will get better, Jalen hasn't found his groove, and Myles hasn't gone off offensively yet!

The thing thats really stood out to me so far about this team is defense. We were an average team defensively last year and so far we have been not just good but elite. Kenpom has us ranked 16th defensively but what sneaks under the radar there is that a little under half of Kenpoms ratings are based on preseason ratings which had us about 50th. If you were to only base the ratings on this year we would probably be top 10. Great offensively, great defensively, great at rebounding, great depth, and I still think we will be an above average team at getting to the line and making FTs. This is a complete team right now and were not even in December yet. Scary to think what we could become.

Xavier and Big East basketball right there. Gotta give it to the seniors like every other year, Jimmy has been a complete beast in the post getting boards and Remy did a great job driving and guarding their shooters. Trevon continues to impress and brought the energy from the very beginning by hitting big shots. Edmond was ON FIRE in the first half hitting threes and getting the ball to the bigs in the second half. Really, I could go on complimenting every single player, even the walk ons at the end holding their own with the 1-3-1.

Also one person that deserves a lot of praise that Ric Broering has been saying for the past few weeks is Matt Jennings. The man put this team in fantastic shape and their energy level is lightyears beyond the past few teams. This man deserves a raise!!

Hopefully that blowout ends all thoughts of expansion for the rest of time. Long live the Jimmy Carter streak!

Love the enthusiasm, but HOLD UP! That '08 team had just as much talent AND had significantly more experienced guards. Also, they defended like their life depended on it. I've said that I think this team could be just as good, but a season is a marathon not a sprint. Let's see how they do against better competition, and when they have an off game. Also, we haven't played a team that can matchup to our size.

The best part is this team still has room for improvement. The Frosh will get better, Jalen hasn't found his groove, and Myles hasn't gone off offensively yet!

Matt Norlander mentioned it in his writeup, and I was thinking about that 2009 team throughout the beatdown. Their 9-0 start, including the Puerto Rico championship, was the best ever in Xavier history. I still remember B.J. Raymond saying they were "the worst undefeated team in the country," not accepting the early season praise. I loved that team, and hope this squad stays just as hungry as B.J. demanded that his teammates be.

Time flies when you're having fun. It's closer to the last 30 years at this point. Thanks to Wikipedia, I'll even do the math. In games played dating back to November 29, 1985, Xavier is 43-19. From 1950 through 1982, Dayton dominated the series to the tune of 55-11 to grab their largest lead in the overall series at 64-31. Outside of a three game win streak in the series in '90-'91, not much has gone right for the Flyers in the series since. Dayton currently leads the overall series 84-75.

Dayton doesn't belong in the Big East. They are better suited for The A-10. They have A-10 talent and can compete in that league. The Big East is just too high of a level for them. Another thing I'll be curious to see is how both teams respond in their next games - in the past, both teams were prone to "hangover" games.

This isn't one of Western Kentucky's better teams, but there is going to be a little extra spring in their step to play a highly-ranked team. It won't be the same emotional high that Northern Kentucky played with, but this game could be a little hairy for Xavier. They've finished the 5-games-in-10-days gauntlet; now there's a stretch of 4 home games and a road trip to Wake Forest before Christmas Break and Big East play. The coaches are going to do everything in practice to ensure that the players' heads don't get stuck in the clouds after their recent run of wins.

As for our friends up north, they get to host North Florida at home and make a roadie to Vandy. If they're still hung over from yesterday's loss, it would not surprise me if they lost both their games.
