Notre Dame led by 8 at halftime, but Monmouth has completely turned the game around in the 2nd half. The Hawks are up by 11 at the under-8 timeout in the 2nd half.

Wow, this is the first win over an AP top 25 team in Monmouth program history.

Which means if Dayton gets by Iowa, and we handle USC, we'll probably play them in the final.

That's amazing for a program that has made a few NCAA Tournament appearances before. Prior to this year, their best game was a play-in NCAA Tournament win over Hampton in 2006. They already have a win at UCLA under their belts.

I think Xavier just became the tournament favorite...and they could easily lose tomorrow against USC. Meanwhile, Iowa and Dayton are legit contenders, so this tournament is wide open.

A minority. They were at least seen as a contender.

Yeah. Now is setting up as good a time as any for us to win one of these against after struggling so many years in a row. Here's hoping we dont blow it.

That would be nice, but honestly I would rather have us win and them lose in the semi-finals so they can cry about how they would have gotten to play us (and in their mind beat us).

If it was Notre Dame, that would sound nice, but I don't want to play Monmouth. They might be better than they originally appeared, but that still only makes them a borderline top-100 team.

Monmouth already has wins over UCLA, Drexel and Notre Dame. If they beat Dayton, too, I don't think there's any reason to worry about the being a borderline top 100 team. They'll be closer to a top 50 team.

William and Mary also gave Dayton a little bit of trouble at Dayton last week - I don't think the Flyers are going to overlook Monmouth tonight.

Meanwhile, it's amusing to think that the loser of Notre Dame-Iowa will find itself playing for 7th place at 10 AM on Sunday.

Drexel really sucks this year, but point made with UCLA and Notre Dame.

Plus, Monmouth is in the MAAC now, so they have a solid mid-major league to play in. It's not like their Northeast Conference days, when the league would be certain to weigh them down.

I hope Monmouth has one more strong game in them. I don't want to play udump. Not because we wouldn't beat their asses 5 ways from Sunday, but I just don't want to hear their fans' BS before and after the game. F them, really.F 'em!

If Monmouth wins another game in this tournament, I think you have to start thinking of them as an NCAA Tournament team. At least for now. I guess they could get another big win, then lose four out of five, and then it's all forgotten. We've seen that before. But, as of now they have yet to play a home game, and yet they've only lost once. They've won at UCLA and on a neutral floor against Notre Dame. If they win today or Sunday, that's three wins away from home against probable tournament teams. There are teams that make the NCAAs that don't have three wins away from home that are that good.

They don't play at home until December 13th. I REALLY hope that becomes a tough ticket. They deserve it.

As much as I'd like to see XU and UD play, I'm for Monmouth. It's fun watching a team from what's normally a one bid league play their way onto or even inside of the bubble. And, the UD game not the same when you play in Orlando over a holiday weekend. Syracuse v UConn, Gonzaga v Washington, and Texas v Texas A&M have all been great, but they're games played in resort ballrooms in front of hundreds of drunken tourists instead of packed on campus arenas in front of over 10,000 fans. Maryland v Georgetown is what an OOC regional rivalry should look like. And, as much as I like these tournaments, that's just not what you get in terms of atmosphere.

I want to play UD and I want to crush thir fans souls. That would be so sweet.

I actually would prefer to play them every year. I like rivalry games and after UC they are still our biggest rival. Now that will become less and less as we go without playing them but I think that still stands as this time.
