You forgot WSU's big win over Emporia State. Maybe it should have been an exhibition, but it wasn't.

MadX was just looking at games that count towards the RPI, I'm sure. Emporia was the first game the Shockers played w/o VanVleet.

RPI.com does not list that game. Must have been a DII team.

Emporia State is a D-II team, but it was a regular season game.

Do we want to see Wichita down one of their big men, or would we rather see Xavier get to exorcise a demon from 2 seasons ago against USC?

USC has the better current and expected RPI. Trojans, please?

Way too early for expected RPI to be valid.

Even without consulting rpiforecast.com, I'm willing to bet the PAC OOC SOS and results will be better than the MVC. way more RPI upside with USC.

But we are not choosing between playing all of the PAC12 or all of the MVC. We are choosing between USC and Wichita State specifically, and we only get a marginal benefit from their respective conferences. I have to go back to the 2010-2011 season to find a season where WSU didn't finish in the RPI top 25 and USC actually made the RPI top 100. And USC still finished 38 spots lower than WSU. I have to go back to the 2008-2009 season to find a season when USC finished ahead of WSU. Clearly the conference affiliation isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Opponents of opponents' win percentage only counts for 25% of RPI, and conference opponents only make up about half of that for 12.5%. Plus, the other 12.5%, non-conference opponents, will probably swing a bit in WSU's favor this year. This increases to 50%, 25%, and 25% when you talk about their own RPIs, but then their own winning percentage makes up a solid 25% by itself (whereas the 50% is hared between all opponents). That winning percentage is probably going to be much better for WSU and USC.

The announcers were talking about a player who had never scored a field goal but had stepped up nicely when needed in this game, and one of them made the comparison to Makinde London, as they had just seen that game. Pretty cool seeing a low-minutes freshman from Xavier get mentioned in another game.

6 pts, 2 rebs, a steal and a nice block in 10 mins. I had to watch the block 3 times and still don't know where he came from.

Bring on USC.

What time is the game tomorrow?

2:30 is the game time tomorrow. If you had told me yesterday that Xavier was playing USC, I would have just assumed it was a losers' bracket game. That said, the Trojans came close to pissing away a 7-pt lead with about 15 seconds left in regulation.

USC hit 12 3's - hopefully we either defend the 3 well tomorrow or USC has an off shooting day.

We'll see if USC is a little more tired after going through a grinder - Trevon Bluiett was the only Muskie who played more than 30 minutes today. Makinde London certainly took Chris Mack's postgame comments to heart; he played a season-high 10 minutes and was ready to answer when his number was called.

Why? You do realize Whicita St is without their best player right? Without looking i would guess USC was favored. I would have taken USC to win. USC is also pretty good. Have been just crushing teams so far. I was surprised it was so close.

I am well aware of Wichita's situation, but USC hadn't played a notable game until today.

WSU was a 1.5 point favorite.

I may want to rethink that after watching Monmouth just knock off Notre Dame. Half of this bracket is now upside down!

Yeah USC has killed teams and owns wins over Wichita St., Monmouth and New Mexico. It could be worse I guess. Xavier has hands full.

Not really. They're not very good without VanVleet. Frankamp would help, too, but he can't play until mid December.
