If the shoe fits...

It's your standard concession stand fare served all-you-can-stuff-on-a-plate style for $14.

Look at it though - on the concourse the pull pork is $7 (and I had a heavier ladle on the bbq), the tenders are $7.50 the pretzel is $4.50, the Sam Adams is $7. And I don't think you can get saratogas or Mac/cheese on the concourse. So that's what $26+ value on the concourse. Im gonna get my seat donation back in food.

I have never had a good pretzel at Cintas Center, not once in 15 years. Yet I still think the next one will be good....

Ha , same. My biggest complaint about my Michigan trip was a pretzel with cheese I bought there. It was inedible. Usually they are stale but I will eat them anyway but I threw this one away.

Wont keep me from buying the next one at a sporting event though!

The pretzels are so dry and hard to choke down. I'm not sure why its so hard to make them. I'm sure they bring them in frozen.

They are truly awful. I have worked my share of HS concessions and any pretzel we served was 100 times better. I think it's because the groups are volunteers and they don't get proper training and/or don't give a crap. They are better off spraying them w/ water, dipping them in salt and nuking them in microwave. At least it will be soft.

This is a very legitimate complaint. They are the worst pretzels maybe anywhere. On the other hand, if you're looking to watch your waistline, just take one bite of a pretzel and drink some beer or pop and the thing will swell up in your stomach and live there like a rock for the next week - thereby causing you to eat less.

I've been saying this for a while. Why in the world is it so difficult to get a decent soft pretzel? If we can put a man on the moon, have self-driving cars and UD can find a way to make the NCAA tournament, you'd think someone could make a decent soft pretzel. It's one of life's great mysteries. And I'm like you - even though I know every pretzel I've had has been subpar at best, I can't quit them.

As for the Duff's buffet, I just can't do it. There actually used to be a buffet chain called Duff's in the south. To get your food, you would stand a little stall with your plate and the food would rotate around. Some of the worst food I've ever had - this stuff made Golden Corral look like a five star restaurant. My old college coach must have know where every Duff's in Kentucky was, because after every road game we'd be in the middle of nowhere and sure enough he'd find a Duff's.

We had Duffs here to. You k know Homers Smorgasbord in evendale. That was a Duffs at one time. There was one where dollar tree is on Ridge back before it was old country buffet. That one had the rotating buffet your mention. That wasn't at all Duffs, only the newer ones.

Mass produced comfort food, it wasn't going to win any awards but if you wanted to load up, or feed a family (or sports team) on very little coin that was the places to hit.

In my short sporting career it seemed to always be the Frischs breakfast bar for day games or Shoneys for night games (think Frischs with a dinner buffet. Sharonville might still have one)

As for the caveman size turkey leg, that photo of it on the plate was its best state. Very tough to actually eat.

And from Sources that will remain anonymous, they were fleecing those fine Joseph Club patrons for $12 for one of those legs. I got mine in Duffs along with the buffet and included beer for $14. Which means I got a lot more edible food with it. And one of those hot pretzels.

I've become a Duffs convert.

Years ago, they had jalapeņo cheese stuffed pretzels. Those were always good. I think the cheese on the inside kept them from drying out.

I forgot Duff's used to be here. Didn't know it used to be in the same strip mall where Velva Sheen once flourished.

Was Homer's the original location of David's buffet? I know at some point they were further north up Reading Road - that was the go-to place for our grade school sports banquets.

The only way to remedy the pretzel problem is to install an Auntie Anne's kiosk (or three) in the arena.

And holy cow! I forgot about Duff's from the south. We ate there on our way to Florida and while in Florida when we were kids. Horrible food. Terrible. For awhile my mom would threaten us with Duff's food if we complained about what she made for dinner.

Homers was Harry Js and Duffs before that. Always pig trough quality buffet food.

David's was where it died (acrioss from the Evendale sports plex) for as long as I can remember.

Going there taught me that not all buffets were as horrid as Duffs.

Is it like fine wine? Does it just get better with age? You must have felt lucky and jumped all over THAT!

Mike Birbiglia does a great bit on terrible pretzels. If I could find it on the internet, this post would be way better.

Had a soft pretzel at the festival of lights at the zoo tonight. Phenomenal. Best soft pretzel I've had in a long time. If anyone is heading down stop at the snack stand between the gift shop and reptile house and get one. (Cinnamon and sugar donut holes were a nice treat as well.
