The NCAA is moving its March Madness selection meeting to New York City.
The meeting to set the bracket and seeding for years has been held in Indianapolis and, before that, in Kansas City. Joseph Castiglione, chair of the Division I men’s basketball committee and Oklahoma athletic director, says the move that begins next March is intended to raise the profile of the session.
He says it also provides “countless” more opportunities for media, including March Madness broadcast partners Turner and CBS.

I didn't realize they didn't have the internet in Indianapolis.

Don't get it either. The media doesn't seem to have a problem covering the NFL combine in Indy...

The NCAA oftentimes identifies problems that don't really exist, and then waste a ton of energy trying to solve them. Fortunately in this case there probably won't be any residual effect or unforeseen consequences. It really doesn't matter where they do the damned selection process. There was no reason to move it, but there was really no reason to not move it either.

This sounds like a bullshit excuse for them to get out of their HQ and party in NYC. They should save the expenses and pay better referees. Why does that event need more exposure anyway? It's a group of people locked in a room drafting. The Chairman usually gives one interview on TV during the selection show about the process...and really that's all the people give a crap about. What are they going to do...some Olympic style production and backstory on the committee? Who gives a shit?

It will represent an opportunity for the media to interview members of the Big East Tournament Champion Xavier Musketeers right before Selection Sunday so there's that. Which is nice.
