I'm interested to see how London does in the 3 point contest. A stretch 4 who can knock down his shots is always a huge plus.

Yes. I think it will be very interesting to see how he does. I think Davis and Reynolds will win their respective contests.

It would have been fun to see Austin in dunk contest. I keep hearing about his vertical.

He did very poorly in it last year. Almost unthroned Jalen in dunk contest though.

Interested to see Sumner in Dunk Contest.

Macura will win the 3 point contest. He is a better pure shooter than Myles.

I expect Sumner to unseat Jalen as dunk champ too.

London in both. That's interesting to me.

I wish Austin was in this contest as well. I would guess, Sumner, Reynolds, then London for the finishing order. 3 point contest, who knows, but it should be pretty good.

It's amazing what a free t shirt offer can do. Limited to the first 1,000 or so. You know Muskie Madness just walk in and grab a seat. Now an hour before doors open the plaza out front is jam packed and line overflows
To the sides of the arena on both sides.

Bigs dunking rarely impresses me (unless you stradle a 7' Russian - I swear that Ruskie should have hopped UP a little), but it's impressive when your "smalls" are 6'5" (OK, mediums?) and can win a dunk contest I didn't even know he was in.

So I know it was just a fun scrimmage, but Sumner looked very confident with his talent. Maybe not this year but give it time and he is going to be an incredible player for X.

Huh?

London and Reynolds tried a few spectacular dunks, but couldn't finish and eventually settled for easier stuff. JP wasn't amazing, but he threw down two really hard dunks - one off the side of the backboard and one between his legs.

The scrimmage was great. I agree, Sumner impressed. Super fast driving to the basket and his athleticism is off the charts. O'Mara is in much better shape. You can tell he slimmed down just by looking at his face.

Bluiett is a stud. Farr will be a monster on the boards again and showed some good agility inside. Austin Jr. was very confident, did a good job getting the ball to his big men. The team is deep, athletic and explosive. Great intensity on defense. Mack was fired up on the sidelines, which was great to see.

Couldn't go tonight, but was able to see a lot of it because of X live streamed most of the evening through Periscope. The video quality isn't the best but it was still cool. Trevon looked REALLY solid in the 3 pt contest! For a bug guy Londons shot isn't bad. Scrimmage was decent. I'm just waiting for people to het upset over Jalen & JPs 3 fouls each. ;-)

All in all it looked like a very fun evening. One if these years I'm gonna make it down there for it.

He will for sure play. Its not like he has Tu Holloway in front of him. Austin look very comfortable and more confident, but Sumner brings a completely different element of size and speed. We have lots of options at almost every spot. :)

Madness was fun! Last year's event ran much smoother, but any Xavier ball is fun ball. Nice turnout.

Honestly, the 3-point contest and the dunk contest were a bit difficult to sit through. The shooting was not that impressive. Many guys seemed to be getting tired out there quickly. The guys couldn't even muster dunks very well. London struggled to finish one dunk. Reynolds didn't seem to have much vertical for fancy dunks. Macura won the dunk contest mostly because the other two didn't show much. Oh well.

None of that matters much when two teams are on the court.

Players who impressed me for any reason:
- Larry Austin looked awesome during warmups. If he has a clear path (big if) he can really throw it down. I thought his point play in the scrimmage looked solid, although they need to set up quickly to get the ball inside. I see a huge competition for playing time with Sumner, but Austin looked good to me.
- Sean O'Mara was very mobile and active. He seems like he's got a real nose for the ball and will be an asset on defense. He needs to still improve his footwork for more rebounding, but he should really contribute this season.
- Remy Able looked like the most complete player on the floor at both ends. The dude can run really well and just looks so comfortable. Made a couple of nice shots that made him look like the upperclassman he is.
- Although Myles Davis didn't make any great plays, you can tell he's a leader on the court, and a hard worker. This is always exciting to see someone be a motivator out there.

Scrimmage play was a bit sloppy, but it usually is at this thing. This team has a ton more height than most any Xavier squad I can remember, but they weren't working it inside for easier close shots as much as I thought they should. James Farr still wants to shoot from outside rather than inside, which drives me nuts. London hung around the three point line more than I'd hope for a guy his size. Hopefully Mack will get them set up on plays to open up inside shots quickly.

Gaston looks tough as promised. It'll be fun to see him banging inside next year.

If London is a good shooter like it sounds, he's gonna pull his guy out to the perimeter when he hangs around out there. The team will get plenty of driving lanes and offensive rebound opportunities.

Goodness I didn't get to watch so I don't know how to gauge how important Sumner will be this year, think he could be a game changer for us? Think we could have a deep run with this team? I know it's early, but I'm really excited to see how things pan out this year.

I'm 27 with an exponentially growing amount of grey hair. Farr is going to make it worse. Plus, eventually, I am going to be watching an X game with friends, I will berate Farr for a 3 pointer and he'll bank it in and I'm going to look silly. There's just no way Farr can make a 3 and look good, but he looks awful good on the glass. Hopefully, he'll stick around there most of the year.

I thought Trevon Bluiett looked exceedingly good on Defense --- he gave JP fits!

And whoever said that Myles didn't make any great plays must have been out getting a beer when he tipped in a rebound while being surrounded by about 5 "trees." He is a very good rebounder for a player his size!

I didn't see MM, but from photos of Sumner it appears he's put on some muscle too. Seems like some serious work is being done in the weight room.

As for the sword.... if it stays raised for more than 4 hours I hear you're supposed to consult with your doctor.

Were that to happen in Louisville, they would simply send out for a new batch of ladies. Why waste a risen sword?

You know if this group caught on to the double entendre, I hope those in charge realize it. It helps when you see the back of the shirt.

A clever marketing department would sell toy swords to go with it, if that is indeed our slogan this year.

Probably not PC to be selling swords to kids. Just sayin'.
