Just learned this morning that Steve Slania, circa Xavier '65, passed away Monday from a heart attack.
He was an outstanding pitcher and team leader as well as an outstanding student.
I realize he didn't play basketball, but could have (ditto football) but was close to all of the jocks.
Right up to his untimely death, Steve was active in Houston baseball circles working with high schoolers getting them college aid all over the country, and a number of them are playing MLB today.
I will miss him greatly.
