Dude seeing Jalen on campus last year he looked like Dwight Howard!! I had roommates on the soccer team, and they said it was absolutely scary to see him in the weight room at Cintas, only word they could use to describe him was "beast."

I did tell my son to remind Jalen to not skip leg day. He looked at me like "you tell him that". I am sure he is not as big as Dwight Howard but I enjoyed the story nonetheless. My son is pretty excited about this oppurtunity. He had a chance to play lower level college hoops but made the decision to be part of a big-time D-1 program.

Howard's height has been horribly lied about since he joined the league. He's realistically 6'9'' and not 6'11''. But you're absolutely correct in the difference in their weight.

Looks like an inch difference, 2 at the most.

From a cursory google search it looks like the Howard height rumors started when he measured just over 6 '9 without shoes on.

As a college scout I know tells me, "As soon as they start playing barefoot I'll start measuring them that way".

I think the comparison to Howard is because he's muscular and toned like Dwight Howard is, nothing to do necessarily the 30-40 lbs of muscle that he needs to completely look like Dwight Howard. Just my opinion!

I would be surprised if Jalen is anything over 6'8" and maybe as low as 6'7". Derek Strong was maybe 6'7" but was touted as 6'9"+ when at X. Not saying Jalen won't make it in the NBA because Strong had a long successful career in The League.

We had like 5 managers in my day, and one of them was mentally handicapped....so we basically had 4 1/2 managers.

Congrats to Cheesehead's kid. As a life long Xavier fan, spending 2 years as a manager was a great experience.

Yeah, it's a lot. They all help and the coverage depends on everyone's schedule. All I know is he was told he would not be with the bench this year during games since he is a freshmen. He was told he will be video taping games up top somewhere and will only travel for 2 away games this year. He gets a good loot of gear: shoes, sweats, shorts, a bunch of various shirts, and small payment for season. I think $500.00. Some schools don't even pay their managers. He will also be allowed to participate in drills and even practice since he played in HS. He is excited about it.

Makes sense, and sounds like a good system. It will be an unforgettable experience, I'm sure he will have a lot of great stories to tell. If he sticks with it, and "pays his dues" he will find himself on the bench for some tourney games before his career is over. Best wishes to your son Cheese.
