Here is sort of the wrap up summary at then end:

Summer scenario

Chris Mack and the Musketeers will lose two seniors -- and they have two open scholarships in addition to those eventual vacancies. There's also a chance Jalen Reynolds, an NBA prospect who will turn 23 before the end of the season, will leave after 2015-16. The priority is a high-level point guard and a couple of big men to replace Farr and maybe Reynolds. Xavier has a bunch of top 100 guys on its radar. This is an important class that could add a handful of good young players to a quality group that should be experienced in 2016 and 2017.

I wonder who would read this besides Xavier fans, who would find no real inside information.

Not being accusatory, just a genuine question. Who is their audience for this piece?

I'm pretty sure they are doing one of these for every team.

So it's just for fans of individual teams? I'm not trying to be a jerk about this, but it seems silly to pay for "insiders" information, when there isn't one besides. I mean any Xavier fan knows the situation going into next season.

It's a great business model for ESPN. I just don't understand it.

I mean it's just additional information. They have it for every sport and every team. It's included with ESPN the Mag...which I read and I got for less than a dollar an issue for 2 years...so i signed the account up for insider. Obviously something like scout is a lot better. But it's good info on other Big East teams etc....

Oh okay, they make it cost effective. I can see that. Thanks.

My guess is XUbrew reads every recruiting analysis for every D1 mens' basketball team. If anyone asks Brew, "I was just wondering about Florida International's recruiting for 2016", my bet is Brew has all the answers.

Yeah, as other have mentioned the ESPN Insider account is pretty extensive. Most of their worthwhile content on their website these days is behind the insider wall and a single subscription gets you access to all the insider articles.

I don't think it is a micro approach where they're trying to get people to sign up for the insider to read their specific teams article, but more of a meta approach to pump out enough content across all the different sports behind the paywall to entice people to sign up.

These article are just a small piece of that approach. '

A perfect example of another article they have behind the paywayll is one Buster Olney wrote this morning with a bunch of insider reactions from baseball executives to the Cards scandal.

I clicked on the link to read it only to find it behind the same paywall these articles are.

I'm guessing the thought is that if a person runs into the paywall enough times they will eventually relent and sign up.

ESPN is already getting $10+ from me every month on my DirecTV bill. They're not getting any more.

Both 87 and Causal remarks make perfect sense to me.

I got ESPN insider more for NFL stuff, but there are definitely other articles that are interesting as well. i wouldn't have paid simply for Xavier content, because I can get that for free.

ESPN Insider pays for itself if you are a baseball fan and read Keith Law.
