A Pioneer and seemed like a good Dude. Kept touring until his 80's.

I remember him telling Bono in Rattle & Hum, "Ah man, I am no good with cords. Someone else usually does that for me."

He could play though.

I had the privilege of seeing B.B. live a few times locally. You can always tell when someone is doing exactly what they were born to do.
All those thousands of shows under his belt and he was still getting it done like it was his first time out. RIP Beale Street Blues Boy!

I never saw him live, but I bought his "Lucille" album back in the '60's because I just loved that sound. He had an absolutely unique sound between that guitar style and his soulfully expressive voice. Ya done good, BB. RIP, my man. BTW I still have the album, and will put it on tonight to celebrate his legacy.

Unfortunately the legends of Mississippi Blues are few that are left.

Greats like Howlin Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson, Muddy Waters, Arthur Crudup, John Lee Hooker Elmore James and the Grandaddy Robert Johnson are all gone. Even later artists who have tried to keep the genre alive have passed like Stevie Ray Vaughan.

I don't know who is out there to keep this piece of America alive for the new generations. I fear for it's future.

Better it end than it be a fake facsimile.

What? Like George Thorogood, who I absolutely abhor?

All genres have their time. Classical music is still made, but no longer its heyday. Sock hop, hair bands, disco, etc. all still made, but the circumstances or culture(s) that lead to that time in music have passed.

And Bad to the Bone is a fun(ny) listen when you haven't heard it for years.

Some genres even ebb and flow thru the passage of time. Popular "rock" or at least what they call "rock" today is now folksy Americana (popular in the 60s and 70s) infused with some pop. There isn't really any popular hard rock or alt-rock anymore like there was in the 90s and early 2000s...I'll bet that at some point hard rock will make a comeback.

The scary part for me is how popular House Music and DJs have become...To me that stuff is a big pile of horse dung.

I couldn't disagree with this more. There are more contemporary composers out there making well-received music. I guess heyday is somewhat relative. Yes, it's not selling like Beyoncé, but there's a ton of composing happening in that arena. And just look at the hybrid work being presented at events like Cincinnati's Music NOW festival year after year.

Lots of great contemporary blues performers here every year. http://www.cincybluesfest.org/

This year with Marcia Ball and Tommy Castro playing. You don't get much better than that today.
I'm not a big fan of Tab Benoit, but he's headlining too.

Probably one of the better lineups this festival has ever had, and they haven't even announced the full lineup yet.
