X sent out a Press Release, and Mack has spoke to the media about it, so it's legit...that or everyone at X is really dedicated to the joke.

Also, a pretty minor extension isn't great fodder for joke. If he was retiring or something, then maybe the joke angle would make more sense.

I would take this as a sign that Texas has their man. I'd be shocked if we don't hear an announcement about Smart in the next 24-48 hours.

Yeah, if Chip Brown is accurate (sometimes he is, sometimes he's way off) then Texas is pretty close to signing Smart.

Was there anything saying Mack was being considered for it? I think this is far less of a worry for us than it used to be.

Rothstein speculated that Mack (and Utah's coach) would be next in line for consideration if Shaka turned them down. But that was really the only mention of Mack being considered.
