I've been a big fan of Baker's since he first burst onto the scene two years ago. They seem like they could have similar skill sets. Obviously, JP didn't have the freshman year Baker had, but I would love for him to develop into that kind of impact player. Any thoughts?

Think JP has just scratched the surface of what he can do. The game will slow down for him soon.

JP is already better at driving to the basket. I think his 3pt % will increase next season.

If Macura turns out to be a special player it will be because of his passing ability. He can make some crazy deliveries.

I don't know about Ron Baker, but I think he can be our Michael Jordan.

That is some fantastic fro. Good for him being able to grow that greatness.

I don't really see how they are comparable other than, you know.

One's a linebacker and the other is a wide receiver (at best).

um, yeah, no.

Agreed. No where close. Baker is a really solid ball handler and can drive well. Plays pretty decent D (from games I've watched at least). As others said, the two don't resemble each other much besides race.

Granted, were getting a little better. Someone mid season asked if JP could be the next Adam Morrison.

He has some point guard skills, but not point guard quickness. A potentially great shooter. Mixes it up and makes things happen. Great vision. Going to be a good one.

Totally agree with this. I love his shooting (he'll settle in), long arms and pesky nature, but his passing doesn't get enough notice. He sees the floor very well. I'm looking forward to watching him down the road.... starting tomorrow!

They are about the same height, both can shoot the rock well and handle the ball well. They are also both boisterous. JP is a little thinner, but I would like to see him bulk up a little. They both drive to the hoop well. The fact that they are both white and blonde doesn't hurt the comparison, but there are many more similarities to their game than I think many of you are considering.

Honestly, looking at what JP has shown us so far this season, I'd be asking if Baker could become GSU's JP Macura, if Baker had a few more seasons to go.

JP, much like each of the crucial cogs in this team bright such unique abilities for his age, size and position that it is impossible to buttonhole him, or try to mold him into something else. I have been in awe of his shooting ability, 3's on the fly like no one we have seen before in Xavier blue. Next eh showed his nose for the ball, slashing through crowds for tips and boards and downright disruption that seemingly can out of nowhere,,, and now,,,, he's the lead on the 1-3-1 defense that is giving teams fits. Size speed shooting attitude, wow, The Scotsman!!!!

I think you've got the wrong guy. Baker is an all-american guard at Wichita State.

JP The Stilt doesn't have quite the same ring to it, but he reminds me of Wilt.

To be honest on stats alone as freshman they are pretty close. Both shot about the same from 3 and 2 with JP hitting a little better from 2 pt range. Rebounds are close. I think Ron made a name for himself on NCAA tourney. Ron scored about 8 a game and JP close to 6. Ron also is a little older as he turned 20 during NCAA tourney his freshman year.
