Looking forward to the matchup Thursday, even on a day's rest. I think we match up favorably with X, regardless what I've read here on the boards. We are very athletic and can shoot the ball. We play 10 players and have depth at most positions. Our issues is we sometimes only play one half, i.e. BYU.

Saw where one mentioned that our short guards match up well for X. Summers is 6'4". While Moody is 5'10", he has a 48", that's right, 48" inch vertical. Go watch the Missouri highlights on one of his slam putbacks. He can jump out of the gym and is extremely quick. And has 2% bodyfat (which is why we lost to UK in overtime...he dehydrated and missed the last 6 min of the game after we were up 11).

I never sell X short, especially in tourney time. I'm from Cincy, even though I've been gone for 35 years, but I follow X and UC closely. This isn't a vintage X team (nor is UC...they're one and done). Ole Miss 71 X 66.

Should be a good one.

Yours,
KevinOMReb

Welcome to the board Reb. Good luck tomorrow, but not good enough luck!

Fair enough! Ha. Hey, I bet I'm the only OM fan who knows what Schmidt Fieldhouse is/was.... And heck, I still remember the old football stadium across Victory Pkwy....

I'm guessing X starts off with Dee on Moody and Remy on Summers. Dee has shut down plenty of guards the past few years including all Big East 1st-teamer Kellen Dunham numerous times. Remy is our best athlete as well and at 6'4" he will be able to stay with Summers. The key will be keeping these two Ole Miss guards out of transition where they love to do their damage.

On the inside, It seems like another UC-type team where Matt shouldn't have a problem catching it deep. He'll have to finish over the length tho as Rhett and Saiz are looooong. Great match up as well for Trevon as he should draw out their bigs away from the rim. If the Rebels stick with their extended zone X will need to take care of it and find the middle. Look for Matt to be the focal point of the offense in the middle with big-to-big passing (ie: vs. St. Johns) and spray it outside when it's there.

Wow a real life Ole Miss basketball fan....i didn't know they actually existed.

It should be a good game...i think these teams are very evenly matched and I would not be surprised to see it be a one possession game.

First off, welcome! I really enjoyed your first post. Just a point of clarification concerning the bolded part:

While that vertical is impressive, the actual size at the point guard is more the issue. Dee Davis is a really good defender, but the guards against which he struggles tend to be taller ones who are able to pass over him and shoot over him. Moody's vertical could be a factor when he gets into the lane, but it won't factor into when he is trying to shoot a jumper with Dee in his face, as they are about the same size.

I think it is a "nearly 40" vertical. That is some serious hops.

Moody (35.7% on 213 attempts) and Ladarius White (40.3% on 139 attempts) are the only 3 point shooters Ole Miss has. They shoot about 19 a game. Moody also made 56% of his threes last night vs season average. Chances are he'll come back to earth.

I like this matchup- Especially with Jalen Reynolds in there. Andy Kennedy is a doofus.

Congratulations to Ole Miss for making the tournament and defeating Sweet Sixteen participant BYU. As an avid SEC football fan, I am a great admirer of your fan base. This was fun. Let's do it again and set up a home-and-home series.

How do you think we would be treated if we walked through the Grove with Xavier gear on? Offered frosty beverages, or a lynching?

We would be offered a warm welcome, a cold beverage, delicious BBQ, and fine hospitality. Child, please.

And we would be discreetly asked if we are from Xavier why we are not black.

You would be treated very well. They are nice to all visitors on game days.

That's what I would expect....except maybe for the "black" part.

No way Andy Kennedy agrees to come back to Cincinnati just to get handed more losses. He got enough of that when he sat on the bearcat bench.

Well, he did set up a home and home with vd. If he wants an RPI boost, save 50 miles on the trip. He could get into altercations with more cab drivers.

Of course he scheduled a home and home with VD. How does that saying go? Losers love company!
