I know it's just a guess and his guess is just a little better than any other schmuck, but Lunardi couldn't set us up any better this morning. #7 seed playing Purdue, then a possible matchup with Virginia. I'd take that all day.

I hope our top 50 wins (and especially top 25 wins) help these guys get a 7; that would be great!
It's either that, or our early not so stellar losses drop us to the dreaded 8/9. Ugh.
Purdue has 2 talented bigs, and has been playing well the last 6 weeks. Not sure I want the Boilers right off the bat. Va, on the other hand has trouble scoring, that might be a decent matchup.

I expect an 8 or 9 seed. I expect no favors from the selection committee, especially in light of last year being moved down to a 12 seed so they did not place Dayton on their home floor and Xavier fans would make the short drive to buy tickets.
Fully expect a 'coincidence' we are facing Dayton in the first round and Kentucky in the second.

Great experience at MSG and excited about another trip to the Tournament. But is anyone concerned that in our last 50 mins, we were out scored by almost 40 points? How will this effect the guys psyche?

Local news lady in Charleston giving props to Muskies. Said she had friends that went there and she'll pulling for X in the tournament.

We should be good to go, especially if we draw a Friday game. They ran out of gas at the 7 minute mark of the Gtown game. Luckily we had a big enough lead to survive. But I could tell there was nothing left in the tank for Villanova. Plus, Villanova is just a bad matchup for us, just like Gtown is a good matchup for us.
The style of the team we draw will be more important than who we draw. A team that doesn't shoot many 3s would be great. Also a team with a short bench. Just enjoy the afternoon and get ready for the Selection Show, which is the equivalent of Christmas Morning for a college basketball fan.

Dance Card loves Xavier. This is through Saturday's games. They still have Dayton out before their championship game today.

I hope you're right. Why do you think Villanova had plenty left in the tank and we didn't ? They play only 8 guys, had a very hard game in the Semi's. In addition to being a difficult match up, they're obviously more talented. But we were out hustled too. Was it our legs or our psyche because of not making shots? I guess we'll find out next Thur or Fri. Like your advise about enjoying the day!

I think they actually have them in as they, not VCU, are in bold = winning the A10 championship game.
Have no idea what happens if they lose. Shuffled above the break line?

Palm has us a 9. Really makes me think we will end up at 8. 7 too much of a long shot IMO.

Is this true? I heard this from someone else as well - that Xavier got bumped into the "play-in" game last year so that Dayton didn't get a home court advantage.

I think X is (or should be) on the 7/8 line after their showing in the BE tournament. Given that, I would hope that, if they do stay an 8, they'd be at least spared getting the worst 8 draw in the bracket and a guaranteed loss against Kentucky.

I don't have a problem with this if true. It would be really unfair to have UD play there, so getting a tiny bump is probably worth it to the NCAA to have those playin games packed every year. Not many cities are boring enough to sell out games between mid majors.

I think we're a 7, but I could see us getting an 8. Not that there is a ton of difference between 8 and 9, but I don't think there's any way we're a 9

I wouldn't put too much stock in the Palm bracket. He is one of the worst "bracketologists". We could end up as an 8 seed, but 7 is not a long shot.

It's simple. Nova has better players who are more athletic. Only guy on xavier who matches up well with Nova is Jalen and he played well.

I thnk our resume deserves a 7, but I could see the BE getting slighted.

I think it was more of X having nothing left. Both of our games were battles, Villanova 1st game was a cake walk. Plus it's just a bad matchup. Some times lack of hustle is your want to, but your legs are shot. Stain is not built for 3 battles in 3 days. In fact, how many teams could beat 3 ranked opponents in a span of 48 hours ? That would be a tall order for any team. Being in the Va. regional is definitely our best bet. Don't think we have a prayer against any of the other 1 seeds. Hopefully Stain and Dee, as seniors will be "on a mission" come tip off Thurs. or Fri. One thing I definitely don't want is the noon Thurs. game...that is often a crapshoot, and our total collapse vs. the Washington Huskies sticks in my mind.
So to sum it up, I want a good matchup on Friday in the Va. bracket. We'll see....

I want Dayton! Give me a 7/10 matchup with them or 8/9 with the winner playing Virginis or Gonzaga. X will humiliate Dayton and then destroy the most overrated team in history (gonzaga). 7 more hours boys!

Xavier-UGA in 2008 was a Thursday Noon game.

That could have been part of the reason but there would have been many other teams that would have been affected as well. I think the main reason Xavier went to Dayton was because Providence jumped them winning the Big East tourney. If they don't win the tourney I think Providence is in Dayton and Xavier was solidly in.

If I remember correctly, the committee said Providence would not have made the tournament at all had they not won the Big East tourney.

We are WAY more likely to get a 6 than be on the 8/9 line. 8-7 vs the top 50. I think between us, GTown, Providence and Butler that we have 2 6's and 2 7's.

This is defintely a problem. If you are going to automatically exclude a team from playing in the first four because its on their home court then move it to a different venue. UD should get a free pass anytime of the bubble? That is definitely a problem.

He's a total schmuck. Has been jabbing at the Big East on Twitter for days now. He's just looking to get Twitter traffic and people to listen to his radio show. I do however plan on throwing his tweets back in his face when the Big East makes major noise the next three weeks.

I can see how it's a little unfair but if you're in the play-in game you only have yourself to blame. It makes sense on a lot of levels as far as the NCAA is concerned, even though they would never admit Dayton is exempt. Just my opinion.

Gottlieb is very good at doing his job. He knows the Big East is filled with passionate (and VERY defensive) fan bases. He knows comments against the Big East will get him twitter comments/people calling into his show etc. It's all about the attention he knows he will get, and it definitely works.

Does anybody know if the team is going anywhere to watch the show? Thinking about heading over to Longnecks which I know is Macks bar.
