I am very pleased with them making it to the championship game. Going 5-1 against Butler and Georgetown this season is amazing. Now let's rest up for our next, and hopefully not last, game of the season.

We came into the tournament as the 6th seed of the #2 conference.

We beat the #3 seed, a ranked team.
Then we beat the # 2 seed, also a ranked team.

And lost to the #1 seed, who will be a #1 NCAA seed.

That's a damn fine piece of work. Get some Muskies.

Yes, the defense is much improved. Defense is now ranked #55 by KenPom. They have made a lot of strides. Not quite the Top 40 defense Mack always talks about, but considering the first few months of the season, they have improved a lot.

Man that was fun. X beat two top 25 teams and had a shot at a 1 seed. So pumped to watch the selection show tomorrow with this team only worried about the color of the jersey to wear next week. Enjoy players and fans. Let's ride the snake into the second weekend!

Proud of the results. I don't think it will be long at all until Xavier is hoisting a BE Champions banner in Cintas.

On to the tourney now. Time to remind America who runs this town.

The two wins were fantastic. We have 6 wins against ranked opponents, a school record. The future looks bright for us and I love the Big East Conference.

The Big East Tournament is a far better viewing experience than the A-10 version. Not even comparable.

My only wish is that the Conference never expands. We are the few great basketball league left that plays a full Round Robin schedule. I think the Big 12 does. Over the next decade we are going to develop some fantastic rivalries. I am rooting for that Nova team to win it all. They are talented enough to do it. I am rooting for all the Big East teams. I have we have a good showing.

We played the 8th strongest schedule in the nation. That is impressive. That is a value to the ticket package. You get some huge games, as the rivalries develop the tickets will only get hotter.

Look at some of these mega conferences. The ACC has 15 teams. They only get a projected 6 bids. I remember when they used to have 9 teams and get 6 bids. I figure a team could be pretty good and still finish 7th through 10 with all the big names they have. Schools like Pittsburgh and the Cuse are not going dancing. What if that starts happening more often? Will they regret the Mega=Conference? And what of the teams like Virginia Tech who just hired Marquette's coach last year. What will they need to do to become competitive.

The Big 10 has 14 teams but is still projected to get the 6 bids it usually does. Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota are all not projected to be dancing. I wonder when the last year all four of those teams didn't make the dance.

The ACC and the Big 10 used to get 60% of their teams in the dance. Sometimes 70%. Now it is looking to be 40% to 45%. If this lasts it is going to get pretty tough on fanbases and schools. The Mega COnference might work for football, but it might be a horrible idea for basketball.

What others have said about this game but I just wanted to say I'm proud of how hard these guys played. Villanova just outright has more experience and talent than x. If these teams played 100 times villanova wins 100 times. That does not take away from how hard our muskies have played. They will be a single digit seed and our young guys are going to get the experience that is going to pay huge dividends for xavier basketball in 2 or 3 years. Great run boys now let's get a win or two next week

Thanks for starting this thread... I could not be prouder of our guys than I am. They played their asses off all weekend, even when down 20 points to Villanova. If shots fall, that game is a different story, but our guys were playing hard to the final buzzer. Now, we ride that momentum into next weekend!

No the mega conferences will never regret it because that was done for football not basketball. The ACC pac-12 and big 10 want more teams cause more televised games in more markets and more 80000 seat full stadiums bring in more money than 8k basketball arenas. That is why this big east is so cool cause it is basketball centric not football centric
