What a ride. They might be the size of peas, but someone on this team has to win the Steel Ballz award for tonight's win against Georgetown in the semifinals.

Similar to last night, I'm having a hard time picking candidates for this game. But it's for the opposite reason! We nearly completely, unfathomably collapsed down the stretch.

Also this poll will only be open for 24 hours, so get your vote in.

Candidates:

Matt Stainbrook - 20 points on 8/13 shooting (4/5 from the line) and 9 rebounds.

Trevon Bluiett - 9 points on 2/7 shooting (2/6 from 3, 3/4 from the line), 2 rebounds and 3 assists. Trevon earns himself a spot with his big three when we were in a brutal drought with about 3 minutes left.

JP Macura - 8 points on 2/2 shooting (2/2 from 3, 2/2 from the line). As bad as he was yesterday he was good today. Plus, he wasn't in the game during the collapse, so none of that is his fault. Hopefully he can bounce back from his ankle fully and quickly. Get well soon JP.

Other - Dee, Myles, and Farr all hit freebies at the very end. Myles also fouled well under 10 seconds left. If you select this option please let us know why in the thread.

Remember, don't let the stats alone dictate your choice. Consider who had the game most worthy of Tu's Steel Ballz.

What, no poll? :)

What, no poll? :)

Just takes an extra screen and the system posts the thread first. I figured if the team could wait to the last minute to make a free throw, I could take a minute between the poll and thread ;)

I went tre. Huge three again tonight and big free throws. In the end of the game I wanted Myles to get the ball, then him. He's clutch.

Tre is awesome. Does he deserve his own thread?

The Trevon three-pointer when Xavier was gasping was the Steel Ballz play of the game.

I give it to Dee. Made those two FTs at the end when it really mattered with ice in his veins a la Tu. We were like 2 for 10,000 from the line at that point, so making those two was huge. And Myles and James followed it up nicely.

Yes, Stain was great but only in first half. Trevor's three was huge and might be play of the second half.

Yeah, I heard that too on the replay show. I'm excited to see how Trevor plays tomorrow.

Yeah, but you didn't say it on a national broadcast. Damn auto-correcting teleprompters.

Game is on replay, I will refuse to watch after the Jalen foul.

I voted for JP just to give the frosh some props. Tonight was a big win for everyone. Stain really is coming to play and I think this team is going to go as far as he takes us. He is our leader. Gotta feed the post.

I picked Dee Davis. He played 40 minutes. Reminded me of the Brown - Lumpkin days when both would play 40 minutes and X only had 6 players with minutes.

Dee also spent the last 10 minutes mostly dribbling up the court under full court pressure with more than one man on him. He had a 2-1 assist ratio. His missed foul shots were from exhausted legs. His last made 2 "throws" were out of sheer determination.

He "righted" the ship.
