Just showed him in the locker room walking around in a boot. More like hobbling around.

Yeah I would be surprised if he isnt done for year. Unless we make second weekend maybe. Never know though.

Helluva season for the young man. He's a tough guy!

I think that is a huge loss for us. You could argue his 8 point spurt before he got hurt was what put xavier on the right path to get the huge lead. Without him, we probably lose tonight.

Losing JP definitely hurts. I feel bad for the kid, but at least he is a Freshman with a lot of great basketball ahead of him. I expect him to be a major contributor next season and beyond. Hopefully he can play in the tournament, but I agree it doesn't look good.

It really sucks. Get better quick kid. Not many chances to play in these tournaments.

The 1-3-1, though effective most of the second half (until Copeland starting lighting it up (and for some reason we stuck with it)), wasn't quite the same without JP. Remy was serviceable, but his head was swiveling the entire time. I was worried he was going to get whiplash. JP has that role on lock down.

Hopefully a week is enough. Hard to say with ankles...he could be fine by Tuesday. I'm going with optimism.

You never know with young guys. No way we see JP tonight but by Monday with a two full days of treatment the team Docs/therapists will know a lot more. If he is able to go next week (and I hope we get the Friday game) don't expect to hear anything + or - out of Mack or the team. I would keep it under wraps, so to speak. No reason to give the enemy a heads up either way.

Family member said he'd only be out a couple of days. Could go tonight but Flukes wants him held out to let it heal for the NCAA tourney.

He is a huge part of our 1-3-1 zone defense which was very effective against Georgetown before he went out of the game. Georgetown had no answer for him on offense or defense last night. Since the zone is not very effective against Villanova he would probably not be use as much tonight anyway but we need the extra legs and outside shooter.

The 1-3-1 is a great wrinkle to throw at someone for the tourney. Would love to see him back thu/fir, but I will believe it when I see it.

You never know with ankles. You can turn it and think it's broken and be better in an hour, or it may seem like no big deal and it lasts for weeks or months. Let's hope and pray for a quick recovery. We know he's in good hands.

Yep. Twisted mine badly playing in high school. I would have been better of breaking it. In 6 weeks, it would have been pretty much back to normal. Took almost 6 months to really heal. Of course, that was 40 years ago and medical treatments have improved just a wee bit since then. Hope he's back for next weekend.

Yeah a lot of times a break can be better than a sprain. Not in this case though where we are hoping for a return in less than a week. Just need to hop the sprain wasnt as bad as it looked.

You break it you have to be non weight bearing for usually 6 weeks.

That was a tough loss. I agree we probably don't win that game without him. He was feeling it out there too, you could see he wanted to get the ball and jack it up again. I think he was our leading scorer when he went down, and I really believed he was going to nail his next shot. He might have been able to challenge his career high (17) if he kept playing.

He had 14 points at Nova, and to beat Nova I was hoping for another big effort for him.

If this is the end of the year I want to thank the young man for a job well done. I think he is going to be a star for us down the line. Kid has some serious moxie.

Get Well Soon JP!

J.P. Macura is a baller. The Minnesota Marksman will be back to torment our first round opponent.

We need him out there. BYU goes small. We need speed and defense to harass their smaller guards. Their top minute guys are all 6'6 and shorter. They are a matchup problem for us. They shoot well but like us don't play fantastic defense. This could get interesting if they beat Ole Miss which I think they will.

To be honest I do not see BYU beating Ole Miss. I am still trying to figure out how they made the tournament. outside of Gonzaga they have top 100 wins over Umass, Stanford and St. Mary's. They have three sub 100 loses. I see Ole Mass athletic guards killing them.

Same said about Ole Miss, they absolutely stumbled in like some stumble out of Dana's. The bubble was very soft this year. That said, teams like BYU can can light up spot shooting already have a good chance when they are hot. Their defense is where things get exciting for them.

They still had as many top 100 wins in the last month as BYU did all year. Maybe the stumble would not be quite as steep had Ole Miss been in WCC instead of SEC. Even though SeC is not super strong, it's still much stronger than WCC top to bottom.

My Kansas alumnus and broadcaster friend is there now. I asked him to take a look at him. He just let me know that JP is looking pretty solid. Hopefully all is well.

Making any of those threes?

I love it when he drains a few early like in the Butler game.

Injured ankles wreak havoc on your stroke, especially if not completely healed yet. It's tough to find your rhythm when it hurts every time you flex your feet on your jump-shot. Take about 5 Advil before the game JP.

Looks like he has ankle braces on both ankles but not sure if he always did even before or not.

I am more concerned with having JP as the top of the 1-3-1 than as a shooter but even if he isnt hitting them they have to respect him as a shooter, hopefully that opens some up.

I thought JP was playing great before he got hurt against Gtown. If we are going to make a run, we need him to get it going from deep. Instant offense does so much for teams.

He is wearing braces; they are black. My son wears the same kind and no, JP did not wear them previously. He had the white socks and was rockin the Stan Smith type of shoes.
