What happens with this team, including the staff, sometimes is incredibly mystifying. Things are rolling and then you sit back, get careless, let stuff deteriorate, don't change out of a zone when it is clear that GTown had solved it, stop concentrating on free throws and almost let a thing become a monumental collapse.

Pretty incredible stuff. X absolutely has GTowns number. The comeback fell short and was fueled by a desperate team doing anything to get back in the game. I hope X has some gas left in the tank because they'll need it vs Nova tomorrow. Pretty incredible that after all the gnashing of teeth over X's inconsistency this season they are 21-12, a lock for a single digit seed, and playing in the Big East Championship.

I'm a firm believer in giving warnings unless an actual fight breaks out or punches are thrown. That situation could have easily been quelled with a foul call on Farr and breaking it up. At the very least they could have shot Trawick with a tranq gun for being an emotional pansy.

Yup. He built that reputation, and that part is on him. However, quite a few of his technicals would never have been called if it was James Farr in the exact same situation. The one a few games ago when Reynolds basically got a technical for being shoved is a good example of that.

Tonight represents the bias against him pretty well. I don't necessarily disagree with the call itself and think it could have gone either way, but Trawick was definitely deserving of a technical too then. Any other Xavier player in that situation and it would have been called. Because it was him against Reynolds, though, Reynolds' notoriety overtook the situation.

I am on the fence here. I love that Jalen stepped to Trawick because he genuinely looked like he was going to hit someone and Jalen was backing up his teammate. But once Jalen was pulled away, he obviously said some things that were so out of line that the ref had to T him for it.

I was a big critic of Jalen early in the year, but I think he has made HUGE strides in that regard. He pushed Trawick a bit (who then either lost his balance or did his best impression of Kellen Dunham) and lost his shit. And personally, I don't mind that Jalen bumped him, because if you actually pay attention and watch Trawick play, he is extremely physical off the ball, constantly lowering his shoulder, slamming into people and throwing 'bows.

The blame we place on individuals on an anonymous board can be a bit ridiculous.

Jalen obviously entered X with some intensity and discipline issues, but to ignore the fact that they have gotten exponentially better because he reacted to a guy who looked like he was going to throw a punch is garbage.

Jalen did nothing but run his mouth to a frustrated "senior leader" who wanted to throw down. Punk move by Trawick for sure.

Jalen does bear responsibility for the swing last night. Anyone watching the game could see that. Our free throws certainly didn't help and we played the equivalent of "prevent defense" in football. I think Jalen has a tremendous upside but his behavior at this point in the season is unacceptable. We know Mack and staff have talked to him. Multiple times. The message has not been received. I will get flack for this but I would either sit his ass today or play him and tell him to show up at Cintas Center Monday morning at 6:00 am and have him run the steps.

Man-Dee has played 82 out of 85 minutes in two days. Wish Mack would've put Larry in when we were up 20 and DSR was out. Larry is more than capable to give Dee a rest. Maybe Dee would've done better from the free throw line without dead legs. He did jump to 2nd all time single season assists last night and up to 6th I think career assists. Not bad for a too small unathletic mid major recruit��

Agree. Larry should have gotten some time last night, but GTown started to press and I can see the Staff's reticence in throwing him in there. We really didn't turn the ball over, just that Matt missed a 2 inch bunny and then we kept blowing free throws.

I have to expect some Larry tonight. By the way, is Myles sick? He just doesn't look like himself out there.

I know that this seems to be the call de jour now- the block- but this is my biggest pet peeve. When a guy just lowers his shoulder and drives straight into a defender and isn't called for a charge, it drives me crazy. Same thing when you are a big under the basket, you are straight up with arms straight up, and a guy just jumps forward into you. As a defender, what the hell are you supposed to do?

I am praying that Ed Corbett and Mike Roberts are two of the refs tonight.

I'm assuming the refs do homework on both teams before games, but does anyone know to what extent? For instance - do they just get notes that say to watch out for this one guy who has gotten 10 technicals this year? Do they have the capability to go back and watch the tape to see that many of those technicals were... well... not technicals? To me, these calls make a lot more sense if the refs just go in thinking that Reynolds has been out of control all year, which most definitely isn't the case. Sure, he gets emotional, but a good deal of his technicals have been for things that would be overlooked for most other players.

7,500 at the a10. 9,500 in Hartford to watch hometown UCon in the AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAC last night.

I think the AAAAAAAAC total tourney attendance so far doesn't add up to what was at the Big East session alone last night.
