View Full Version : So Fill me in Please
Thanks to Uverse, I followed the game on the Fox 1 Game Tracker. Not great but better than nothing. During OT Butler started out with 3 time outs and 0 fouls. I kept seeing their fouls increasing while we had none. And we were ahead, so something Butler was doing or not doing wasn't working yet they still had the 3 time outs. Were we going to the rim and getting calls ? Did their flops backfire ? Were the announcers curious as to them not using their time outs ?
BTW I turned on F1 this am thinking maybe since they aren't showing the games live, maybe they are showing replays, like they have all season. Nope, they have a collection of unwatchable crap on from morning to midnight. Usually these pissing matches between cable operators and networks occur when no one cares. Pretty shrewd of Uverse to play hardball during March Madness. Which I could switch, but I can't.

We were going to the rim and getting calls. Our first 6 points of overtime were from "and 1's"... a driving floater/layup type thing from Dee and a post move from Jalen. Then we got Jalen and Tre to the line while both were right under the basket.
The announcers didn't mention the timeouts and I didn't really think anything of it either. In the flow of the game, it didn't seem like we were definitely pulling away until there were about 2 minutes left in overtime. And when that happened, we had a stretch where we held the ball for over a minute, had three offensive rebounds, 2 made free throws, and a layup. Butler called their timeout as soon as they got the ball back, but at that point there was only a minute left.
Really, that one minute stretch was huge for us. We held the ball for a full 20% of overtime in one possession.

That rebound by Stainbrook to make that happen was massive, on the level of Trevon's two rebounds late.

Yeah it was.
I wrote in the game thread at the time in we won that if we won the play of the game was Trevon drawing a foul on Dunham by getting position and going for the rebound. It was huge, it fouled out Dunham, got us an extra point to go up 3 instead of Butler coming back down with the ball down 2. Big play.

Timeouts again, huh? (This time, at least, concerning the other team...) We all realize that play doesn't continue during Timeouts, right? No points are scored during Timeouts. No shots are taken.
Seriously, though, there really wasn't a moment in OT where a Butler timeout seemed advisable, much less necessary. OT's tend to have longer possessions, and we had a very long one. They just couldn't seem to score, and we had a few clutch shots, drew some nice fouls, and collected key rebounds.

Check those links for streaming that Jesuit4Life posted on the TV thread. Worked great for me last night.
Thanks to all for the help. I'll try some of those links tonight.

I listened to the game online while I prepped. If I don't go out to watch. I'll grab a stream.
