THIS DAY IN XU HISTORY (2004): Xavier pummels No. 1 Saint Joseph's in the Atlantic 10 quarterfinals, ending a magical 27-0 run for the Hawks.
Romain Sato led the Musketeers with 24 points and 11 rebounds, combining with Lionel Chalmers and Anthony Myles to shoot 25-for-34 (73.5 percent) from the field.

I couldn't find a video from the St. Joe's 2004 Game. Xavier's systematic dismantling of Texas will have to suffice:

I would love to see us ass pound the bulldogs the same way we did the Hawks in 2004!

Hope the bulldogs brought their lube, or it may hurt even worse when we pound their ASS!!

POUND IT!!

I went to watch this on my lunch break at work. I didn't make it back to work that day. May be the best game any Xavier team has ever played. Total domination against a damn good team.

Man, I loved that team. What a RUN!

Side note, how did Dedrick Finn not become an All American? Dude was awesome as a Frosh/Soph. Maybe he filled his role so well, but being the man (and the Pug napping) did him in. ;-)

I'd love to see the game as well as it was before my time as an X fan.

I had a terrible flu the week of the A10 tourney that year, but still made the trek to the dump. Glad I did, that dismantling of St Joe's was so fun to watch in person. (as was beating the flyers on their court to take home the A10 championship)

I think it was the booze and weed that did him in. He had some clutch shots during the run though, so that's how I'll choose to remember Dedrick.

Absolutely. I have very fond memories of his time at X. Kind of shocking that he wouldn't flourish under Miller. Says a lot about his issues.

Pimp and I made the drive up 75 North that sunny Spring day in '04 for the game at UDump. We totally destroyed the Hawks that afternoon! It was glorious!!

Cryer fans were using their stupid red vests to wipe away their tears.

Sato was on fire. I remember being outside at halftime taunting dayton fans with my "dayton christian" chant.

One of my greatest days ever in the dump. Made the trip down from Cleveland for the noon tipoff. We wrecked the Hawks.

After the game I was accosted by two wild eyed maniacs named Snipe and Freddy Garvin. They were totally out of control, slobbering all over me in their drunken happy state. Of course I had to buy them beers to soothe the savage beasts. It was quite the scene in the concourse.

Just set the stage, however, so that Xavier could beat the Cryers in the Finals and allow the Great Pablo to stomp all over the VD logo.

So glad my parents let me skip school to go to the game. Saw that game and us beat VD at the dump then also went to the Texas and Duke game. What a great run!

The building that I worked in downtown set up televisions in one of the conference rooms, and brought catering in. I went down on my lunch break to watch the game, and didn't go back upstairs. My boss came looking for me and wound up staying with me and watching the game. He's a Notre Dame alum, so no skin in the game, but it was just a great game.

Many forget that we actually had to win a game against Olean Welding Academy the day before the St. Joe's game. That game was the 2nd of our 4 in 4 days. Be nice if we can get hot like that again.

I was in class and remember hearing people just start going NUTS around campus. Eventually someone heard what had happened and our professor just told us "Go on, have a good time but don't be stupid" then let us go participate in the celebration.

And then for the run in ATL, I had a professor actually allow us to take our exam the following Monday, as she "understood" that it was a unique college experience. Gotta love it!

At one point the score was 74-37 later in the second half. It was a little surreal.

A non-Xavier event that also happened on this day 6 years ago, the infamous Syracuse v UConn 6 OT game. If we do the same with Butler tonight then it will be a long day at work for all of us tomorrow.

That's what got me -- that at one time we had the 27-0 and #1 team in the country down by 37. We committed 20+ turnovers that game but couldn't miss.

I was there and remember being amazed that we were doubling up the #1 team in the country like that. It made it a little disappointing to end up beating them by "only" 20. Twenty points didn't seem to demonstrate the domination that game was.

Somewhere in storage I also have it on tape. I'll have to see if I can get it online somehow for those who missed it.

My dad and I were also at the St.Bonnie's game the day before (which only happened because they were allowed back into the tournament after the scandal where they forfeited their last two games the year before). I missed the GW semifinal, but was back for the final.
