He averages 16 points a game and has only three games where he didn't score at least double digits.

And he did it efficiently too, with an offensive rating of 120.1. On Xavier's roster, only Stainbrook had a better offensive rating (121.4).

It was because of ties that they had 7.
Surprised Stain got 2nd team but I guess if you move 2 down from 1st team he might get bumped out. After our players getting screwed constantly from all conference teams in the A10 though I will take it.
Tre and Delgado the only unanimous picks for rookie team.

All the first-teamers play the 1 through 3. Looks like Stainbrook is considered the Big East's best big. It's either him or Pointer, who is really a combo forward.

I think as XU fans we have a little bit of a warped view of him because somehow we have figured out how to guard him exceptionally well, especially compared to other teams. In 6 career games against XU he has averaged 8.5 points. We usually see Dunham at his worst.

That must be what it is. I'm floored that his efficiency stats are so high. He looks like a jacker whenever we play him.

Yeah I agree, I guess maybe because he gets frustrated that he isnt scoring well against us? Then he forces? I dont watch many Butler games that arent against XU so I dont know what he usually looks like but he must be a lot better than when he plays us.

I'm not really surprised that Stain got second team. He is only 0.3 behind DSR for the highest offensive rating in the Big East (among players significantly involved in possessions in terms of usage rate). He's one of the better rebounders in the conference. And he is possibly the best passing big in the nation. Keep in mind that coaches, not half-aware fans, are voting. The coaches are very conscious of how hard he is to guard and how much he hurts them in ways that don't show up on the stat sheet. Stainbrook would probably lead the league in hockey assists, for example.

Does this mean Hilliard is going to be POY?
Personally I would go with Henton, just to allow me to tell MOR how he was recruited and verballed to the A10.

But.......he didn't GO there.
I think Henton is the best player in the League, bar none.

Interesting to consider that arguably the two best players in the conference (Henton and DSR) were at one time recruited and committed to play in the Atlantic 10.
For that matter, anyone on Butler who is a sophomore or higher was committed to play in the A-10/Horizon.

A couple of things stood out to me here:
1.) In order for a team to be successful in this league, you need upperclassmen who are really talented (we don't this year). Dee and Stain are good players, and heck Stain maxes out every bit of talent that he has.
2.) You need athletic, 6'2 or above guard play to be successful. Again, we don't have it this year. Not saying that they have to be 6'2 but being long certainly helps, with that said I'll take a Drew Lavender if he is out there.
Thinking about this more and more, I think Mack has almost maxed out the potential for this team except for maybe Remy who in my personal opinion has been a bit of a disappointment. I thought that he could become that athletic, get to the hoop kind of guard, and though he has flashed that from time to time, he hasn't been consistent. As I have said ad nauseum, Dee is what he is, good not great, and his physical limitations has hurt us at times. Myles is much better this year, and hopefully he continues to improve. I wish he were a bit more athletic by big east standards, but his ability to make shots about cancels that out.
I guess the point I am trying to make is that we need better guard play to do well in this league...hopefully Abel, myles improve over the summer, Sumner or Austin or both are ready for the reins next year, and JP and Tre make that sophomore jump that we see so often. All in all, I am excited for next year...of course I don't want to see this season end, but after really thinking about it, I think Mack has almost maxed out what this team can do.

Totally agree. The Mack haters out there are unwilling to see the true lack of big time talent in our upper classmen. Our big time talent in the upper classes is playing at Maryland and in the D league. Is it his fault that his big recruits from those two classes are gone? Nope.

Yup, Dunham on first team and Roosevelt Jones and Matt Stainbrook on second team are all apparently "A10 players."

Stainbrook played two years in the MAC, obviously. And Dunham was actually recruited to the Horizon, though he never actually played in it.

I don't think you can blame Mack for Dez. But when you recruit a player like Semaj you have to anticipate that he will leave early and recruit accordingly.

I did look at some NBA mock drafts this morning, and he is projected to be in the first round in either the 2015 or the 2016 draft. So, maybe no one knows at this point. Has anyone heard anything about his intentions one way or the other? If he comes back, Providence should still be pretty darn good next year even with Henton leaving.

His #s are so much better than Maj's I would have to think some teams would take a chance on him as a first round pick but who knows.
Also RE: recruiting accordingly. Dez's Departure happened before Maj's freshman year. Clearly that hurt recruiting a ton that year....

Draft Express has Dun as the 24th pick. Who knows if he goes though. If Providence makes a run and Dunn plays well that could only help him.

Matt Stainbrook has put together a nice couple of years for our program. Hard to believe this fat, long haired, fat ass, baby faced kid who arrived to campus a few years ago is now an All Big East second teamer. Congrats to him and best wishes on the last games of his career.

2013 recruiting definitely was tough after the fallout.

My pick would be Henton. Talk about a player that makes his team go. Wright ok for COY but I liked Holtmann.

Absolute nonsense that the COY went to Jay Wright. Should have been Holtmann, hands down.

Holtmann has definitely done the most with the hand he was dealt. But tough to argue against the coach of a likely #1 NCAA seed.

Agree on all counts. Every game I watched this year, LaDonte Henton was the best player on the floor.

Sure, no doubting Wright's performance, but Nova had a lot coming back and was expected to finish at the top of the conference. Butler had a coach MIA for three months then bail before having an assistant promoted to interim. Said interim led Butler to 22 wins, a national ranking, and a veritable lock for an at-large tourney bid.
I guess this presents the argument as to whether it's more difficult to get to the top and stay there with everyone gunning for you or to succeed despite a tough hand. I would have to go with the latter, honestly.
