I'm embarrassingly late to the whole podcast genre of entertainment...but better late than never. After finishing Serial, I looked into some other podcasts and found this one was pretty popular. I've been listening to it now for a couple months. It may not be for everyone, but I love it. I can't count the number of times it's had me in tears driving down the road.
For anyone interested in giving it a try, here are a few recommendations:
1) start at the beginning and work forward. Obviously don't listen to all of them (there are like 500 of them). Pick guests that pique your interest;
2) every Bert Kreischer episode is amazing. Listen to them in chronological order though;
3) other guests/episodes I would recommend as far as I've listened (Feb. 2012): #82 Dave Foley, #91 Bill Burr, #101 Adam Corolla, #114 Neal Brennan, #133 Charley Murphy, #134 Kevin Smith, #138 Anthony Bourdain, #142 Graham Hancock, #155 Dave Attell, #163 Joey Diaz and Doug Stanhope on shrooms, #164 Shane Smith (owner of Vice), #170 Michael Ruppert, #188 Amy Schumer (Feb 2012)...thats as far as I've gotten. I did listen to #310 Neil Degrasse Tyson out of order and enjoyed it too.
4) any Joey Diaz episode is hilarious. I'm surprised that guy isn't more mainstream.
I think it's worth a listen...let me know your thoughts. The Bert Kreischer episodes are just hilarious. The Machine and Tracy Morgan stories are just mind blowing.
