A great way to close out the regular season. Down eight at halftime, they packed it in against a St. John's team that doesn't shoot 3's (SJU averages 7 attempts (and less than 2 makes) per game, controlled the boards, and knocked St. John's out of the #3 seed in next week's conference tournament.
Hopefully we can get some revenge against Georgetown from last year for our first Big East conference tournament win in the 7/10 game on Saturday. Win that and it will take a full game like today's second half to have a shot at against second-seeded DePaul (in Chicago, no less).

They had a nice reception afterwards as well where Coach Neal and Maleeka Kynard (the only senior) spoke. That had a great turnout as well- it seemed they had a few more than they had planned for.

Congrats to the Musketeers!
I'm bummed because I left Cincy on Sat due to the Indiana weather but I'll get to see play a few! games in the Big East tournament in Chicago!

They have come a long way this season. What a turn-around from their loss Big East at St. John's way way back on Dec 3. The out of conference schedule was well-suited for them to win some games, get some confidence, and develop. A few great wins along the way including a crosstown shootout win. From preseason number 9 to finishing in 7th place. For me, the win with St. John's pushes them not in the 8,9,10th place group but right there in the middle of the Big East 4-7. The met a goal of doubling their win total ... we'll done.

Special thanks to senior Maleeka Kynard and very best wishes to her.

Congrats to the ladies. Hopefully they can win at least once in Chicago and get a shot at pulling an upset or two!

With that win, Xavier finished 8-10 in the Big East this year. They swept everyone below them in the standings this year; it at least makes me feel confident enough that they should come away with one win in Chicago. They'll have their hands full in the next round with DePaul waiting in the wings.
