Okay, two years ago we had regular formal post season banquets, in April. Last year we had a post season informal "social" but still in April.
This year, the post season receptiom was literally right after the Villanova game at Duff's I ultimately opted to NOT go to the event. And after the loss we took yesterday, I'm sure the mood in that room was not the greatest anyway.
So, did anybody attend, and was there any real insight to be gained?

I did not go. But do know people that went. Good selection of food. Well attended. Decided to do it this way so parents of the players did not have to travel to X twice in short time period. The Seniors spoke. Players were nominated for awards and we the fans will now have a say by voting on goxavier

My wife and I went. Highlight of the season for us, given we just moved to Cincinnati and have never had season tickets or gone to Xavier games. We ended up sitting at a table with Ralph Lee, whose name I, admittedly, barely recognized. But he and his wife were super nice, as were the other 15+ year season ticket holders who had to sit with us youngsters :)
After the speeches, we got a chance to talk with Joe Sunderman and Dee, which was really cool. Joe got a kick out of the fact that we listened to him and Byron from Moscow for a couple of years. And Dee was very nice and chatted with us for a couple of minutes. He's been my wife's favorite player ever since the Lehigh game and we were both pretty sad the whole afternoon knowing Villanova was his last home game. I'm gonna miss him more than any other player since Tu graduated.
To sum it up, having opportunities like that make us 10x more committed to renewing our season tickets. I know the game sucked and we should have won, but it was really special to feel like part of the Xavier family. For all the old farts on here, I'm sure it's very passe, but we were honestly kind of in shock the whole way home at home cool it was.

Your moving back from Moscow just about now certainly explains the -14 temp I ran into in Cincy last week.

Sorry about that. What's worse, it's been in the thirties all winter in Moscow. I'm sorry guys, I'm clearly to blame for this.

Agreed.
Forgiveness is being contemplated.

I was also at the post game reception.
Joe Sunderman was the MC and pretty quickly Coach Mack was called to the podium. He spoke very well ... tough to do after the loss. Essentially, fans will get to vote (starting in about a week) for the 5 team awards - a fan component and a coaches component will choose the winners. Chris went over each of the awards and the 2 or 3 players nominated. It was a nice way to talk about all the players. He also re-stated that a team goal is to be a top-40 team in defense according to KenPom's statistics (and not because of having excellent free throw defense, either). They aren't there yet but have come a long way from earlier in the season.
The three seniors (Mitchell, Stainbrook, and Davis) all spoke a few words of thanks and the entire team was present. We don't hear that much about them, but all three seniors acknowledged the assistant coaches, trainers, etc. - the people they work with every day.
Double duty on the decorations as the 1831 Society event was the pre-game reception and the team banquet was the post-game reception. Both events were very well run.
