Okay, replay is now out of control.
The standard should be indisputable evidence. "INDISPUTABLE." As in, no dispute.
If the refs are watching the damn monitor for five minutes at a time, then there must be some sort of dispute. After one minute, if they can't make a decision, then the original call should stand and we need to get on with the game. It's important to get the right calls, but it's also important to keep the game going because when you stall it again and again and again and again, that's just as disruptive as a bad call. And, if you still can't tell if the call was wrong or not after sixty seconds, then the original call is not a bad call. At most, it's a close call.
At the rate we're going, they're going to start using video replay to assure that the refs are using the video replay system correctly.

Replay is the worst, and I have been saying that for years. Officiating has gotten worse, there's no such thing as "getting the call right" which for whatever reason people in sports have been slinging that trash and people buy it. What cracks me up is how certain things in certain sports are reviewable, while certain things are not. The NFL is the worst, and I still can't believe we have replay in fing baseball.
The only real reason we have replay is simply this...and I can't believe no one ever brings this up.
It's to sell more ad time for television. That's it. Replay allows you to throw it to commercial where they can sell more ads because games are longer. It's not about "getting the call right" or helping officials. Anyone who has watched the NFL can tell that officiating has not improved since replay, simply because calls still get called wrong.
You will soon see all major sport have a control center for replay, like they have in the NHL, and MLB. Everyone will have it. And they will sponsorships for those replay centers, that they will show right before and after the go to commercials. Just another way to make money in sports. Then the quality of play and the enjoyment of play continues to suck.
I really, really, really, really, really hate replay.

Fox already calls in Rules Guru Mike Pereira to comment, not on the rules, but the advisability of challenges given game circumstances. Maddening BS.

Speaking of baseball, the Shadow Play is NOT reviewable. You remember the Shadow Play -- where the forced runner at second is out if the middle infielder's "shadow" darkens the bag. Doesn't need to step on second. I have no problem with the Shadow Play. But if you're going to use replay to Get The Call Right, use it to force middle infielders to hang in on that play when it's not only a Bad Call, it's a Flaunting of the Rules! Blown knees and ended careers notwithstanding. Hey, man, video proved it. You weren't on the bag. Got the Call Right.
