View Full Version : Rooting Interest 2/23/15

I know I got a lot of positive feedback on this segment from many posters, so "Rooting Interest" is back for year two.
For those that have forgotten or were not around last year, we all know X controls it's own destiny over the next three games to garner an at-large birth. That said, I felt that creating this "Rooting interest" can give us all reasons to watch games and root against those teams that could make it interesting down the stretch and those that can help improve X's overall resume; via seeding or at-large berths.
These post will be daily to track all game that I deem important for X. All my determinations are based on the Bracket Matrix and RPIforecast.com.

Want Villanova to win. That clinches the Big East regular season title and they might be a bit less motivated Saturdsy.
Creighton crush DePaul.

Florida lost to Mizzou?!? Ha, talk about a team that's falling apart.

Yeah I was shocked as well.
The shittiest thing for us that happened last night imo is that NC St won @UNC. Pitt only beat BC by 6, would have been nice to see them go down there.

I do not get why Pitt is in the bubble discussion. They have a couple of nice wins at home but absolutely nothing away from home. They also have a shitty loss at Virginia Tech.

Being a Mizzou fan, I watched the game against Florida last night. Florida is without Finney-Smith and Michael Frazier (their two top scorers) right now, so that is mainly why they lost last night. Missouri is going to be interesting next year...they have talent on the team but it is extremely young and who knows if all those freshmen stay after the year is over or if they develop properly.

Because the ACC is shilled by ESPN and they would like nothing more to replace a Big East team with a crappy ACC team

Yeah you are right. They have a bad loss to Hawaii too. Only two road wins against BC and Syracuse.
Two good wins against ND and UNC are probably keeping them in the discussion and their RPI is #39.
A loss to BC last night might have ended their chances. Luckily they dont have any opportunities to pick up any big wins the rest of the regular season, would have to wait until ACC tourney. They finish @Wake, Miami, @FSU.

Because, just like every year, the bubble is extremely weak.

latest bracketology still has us as an 8 and as anther cruel joke...playing NC State in the first round.
http://espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology
I'll be happy as a kid on Christmas wherever whenever and against whoever we play as long as it is in the tourney...but I would much rather be a 10 or 11 than be an 8 or 9....just saying.

I want the lowest number seed available. 8 and 9 are lower than 10 and 11, so...

I'm sure both Florida fans who are aware that they have a basketball team are very disappointed.

Yeah it would be nice to not have to be so nervous on Selection Sunday again. I want to be safely in, even if that does mean ending up as an 8/9 seed.

Ha true.
Crazy though considering they have won 2 of the last 9 tournaments.

I've seen as many 8/9 seeds in the Final Four as I have 10 or 11 seeds: not many. But it's not out of the question.

I don't have a problem with NC State being a 9 at this point, but this matchup could not happen since you can't face the same team 2 years in a row per the NCAA bracketing bylaws.

if we do play them in round one I guess that would answer the question of "were we in the tournament last year or not".
