Outside shooting has been a problem for us in years past, but I don't understand why it's fallen off so much this year. We are 8th in the conference in 3pt %. We've added three really good shooters to the regular rotation in Blueitt, Macura and Abell and Davis has been much better than he was last year. We should be a much better shooting team than we are. Much has been said about the athleticism shortcomings on the defensive end, but this seems like a much more confusing inconsistency.

I would say much of it is due to offense not creating good looks. Players are much better shooters with space and flow. The other thing is Dee Davis is a terrible shooter and the 2nd and 3rd best shooters are freshman. They will be inconsistent. One other thing with Blueitt and JP, they seem to shoot on feel at times more then form. Blueitt rarely follows through and drops his hands as soon as he shoots.

The offense has created plenty of open looks that just have not gone down. Also, Dee's career average is in the mid-30s. That's average, not terrible.

I think we're getting plenty of open looks. We just miss most of them.

Is it true Dee Davis shoots 17% from 3 in conference.

Dee has not shot the three well as of late. One thing I wonder- he is small and has a very slow release. His shot is usually contested against BE bigger and faster guards. He had a wide open three on Saturday, at least when he got the ball. By the time he released the shot the defender was in his face. Dee still made the shot though. But it went from what looked like a wide open high percentage shot to a contested low percentage shot in less than two 2 seconds.

He does have a slow release, but I also felt like he hesitated before shooting on that attempt, to be fair. His release on set shots probably contributes to his average shooting percentage. It's strange, because he has a nice, fluid release on his stepback jumper, and he lets go of the ball much faster. Most shooters have a slower release on set shots than on stepback or pull-up shots, but the disparity in release time seems to be much greater for Dee.
