Seems to be a good deal for X.

Not a good deal for whoever wrote the headline "Nike signs major sports deal with Cincinnati university."

Nice! It always annoyed me some of our programs had different equipment vendors.

Sick Adidas UC.
They're switching the Under Armour. And I'm guessing they probably make more on their apparel deal than X does.

This might mean more access to soccer gear than just the cheap champion t-shirt.

Adidas is terrible. If Xavier was not with Nike, Under Armour would be the next best thing, followed by Reebok, K-Swiss, and just about everyone else besides Adidas.

They do and will.

Champion should be eradicated from the Xavier bookstore. The Nike stuff goes rather quickly, but the bookstore always has an abundance of Champion in stock! Wish they would get the hint.

Several months ago I asked Brian Hicks on Twitter if we'd ever see some soccer jerseys for sale. He said he was going to work on it for 2015.

My last "team issued" soccer shirt bit the dust last fall. I'd love for some higher quality stuff to be made available to the public.

True, because that takes money out of Bob Philion's pocket...Xavier grad and President of Cobra/Puma Golf. Probably does Doug Steiner no favors either.

Especially considering what a certain alumnus did for the program at the Francis Xavier Homan Golf Center.

It seems it would be easy to phase out Champion. I was in the bookstore today, and most of the champion apparel is basic stuff like T-shirts, shorts and sweatshirts. With all the new Nike gear they have now, along with other brands like Columbia, I wonder if we will become Champion free in the near future. The sweatshirt I bought for my 8 year old son is champion, and it was still $40. So it doesn't appear they keep Champion in the rotation as a "cost alternative".
Those who haven't seen the selection of the new book store are advised to pay them a visit. It is a far cry from the limited selection we used to have in the old place.

Actually, this one fits in more with one of my pet peeves - click-bait headlines. Yes, they could have just said Xavier University (it's fewer characters even!), but no, this way you have to click through the headline to read the article.
It's all about that page view.
The local media is good with this "Major Intersection Closed" or "Local restaurant burns to the ground"

It's not a local media thing. It's a national media thing in a world driven by advertising impressions...

Master baiters are needed nowadays in internet journalism - it must be even more nauseating to the great Q who was a bona fide journalist in his day.

Great accomplishment for Xavier athletics as a whole! Lets hope that the cheap Champs apparel gets dropped from the bookstore as a result of this. Also, does anyone know where to get the "Xavier Basketball Never Stops" Nike shirts?

I had a lot of champion wear in the late 80's/early 90's that is still in decent shape today. I have stuff that I got 5 years ago that has already fallen apart. I'm done with that crap.

That's great news. I hope they will change the X logo a little. Never been fond of the bar across the X. Always felt a solid "X" was better looking. Also time to get rid of the giant X on the sides of the shorts. A basic X on the bottom front would look much better.

I like the shorts - I think it makes our uniforms unique.

My Xavier Nike shorts I got a couple years ago dont have pockets and I was at the Marquette game and saw some in the store that had pockets! I was so mad. If mine had pockets I'd wear them everyday! I hate shorts without pockets.

Agree with the giant X on the shorts..always thought that was a bad look. What is the X with the bar, if you mean the sword , I think that logo is very cool

Ipad won't let me post pictures for some reason. Anyway you see how there is a grey bar that goes across the top of our logo? I would like to see that go away.
I wish it was just a plain X

I don't ever see the outline going away.
It's iconic. It really reminds me of Villanova or Georgetown.
It's simple but sleek and can last a lifetime.

Whatever they may or may not change our logo to, I think we can all be assured that it will amazing and will not be anything like the abomination they created for that school up north:

Love running man logo. Homage in Otr has that on a hoodie. Love the light blue too bc it stands out in a crowd. Dark blue just blends in too much. Look around Cintas and it's hard to see true Xavier colors like you might see at say UNC, Louisville, even UC with their red.

Homage actually has it on a non hooded sweatshirt, which is worthless, and a T-shirt. I own the T-shirt. To my knowledge, the running man has never been available as a Nike product to the public (excluding auction items).

Might be kind of cool to use the sword idea down the shorts like the hockey team did...

Nike clothing is so comfortable and hopefully the basketball uniforms will be a bit fancier along with the shoes. This is a move in the right direction.

The basketball team wears Kobes, Durants, and Nike's other high end models. Only Lebron and the official Jordan shoe are "fancier" than what they wear now and the Lebron shoe is certainly not a shoe made for all players.
