Lots of stuff happens throughout games that magnify end-of-game calls. Had X done a few things better, i.e. shoot FT's better, shoot 3-ptrs better, then the late calls have no impact, or don't even happen because the game is won in regulation.

Sooooo frustrating... Refused to watch the 2nd half with volume to get my hopes up again. Didn't work. Loved the heart, I know this one stings but why do they play like this in the first half. I feel like they're starting to let the other team to didcate the game and x is on their heels till hey make 2nd half adjustments. It's too late for that. X cannot be that bad against the zone in the 1st half, coaches and the point guard have to get guys in the right spots.

Refs sucked at the end. But it showed X doesn't have anyone to go to down the stretch like Tu or JCraw. Someone like that would help in these tight games. Also, Providence better not get used to Kris Dunn cause he might be gone after this year

I cannot STAND Dan Dakich (the man is an arrogant prick who cannot coach or lead young men to be successful...), but during his basketball camps he engrained the idea to the kids that free throws are free points, and missing them is about the most selfish thing you can do. Agree with him or not, free throws hurt us.

Sean Miller (perhaps it was Matta) had the philosophy that we win games by making more free throws than what your opponents even attempt. Again...free throws hurt us.

He had his bad moments, but overall I thought he played pretty darn well. Providence doesn't suck defensively in the post.

I thought he earned at least 3 times where he should've gotten the foul call. During regulation.

I don't think Dee is worse. He's the same and never got better. So, I guess adjusted for inflation (i.e. age in this case) he is worse because he isn't at least any better for his age. What the hell am I talking about!!

This team margin for error is razor, razor thin. Glad we came back, but damn this team needed a shot in the arm and now we just get kicked in the dick again. Not sure how resilient this team is. We still have more questions than answers. The rotation seems to change by the minute. How can Remy be a non factor tonight? How can Macura not play almost the entire second half against Marquette and then log the minutes he did tonight? Stain. How many boneheaded turnovers can a senior make. I could go on and on. This team doesn't know who they are. They have no identity. No consistency. Nothing that they can fall back on to steady the ship. Missed huge opportunity tonight to turn the season around. F.

X outscored PC 40-28 in the second half. Something to build on at this point. Still trying to figure out how DePaul beat SH at their place. Butler did likewise. Right, but eventually you need to find a way to put together a solid 40 minutes so that you have a chance to win. We haven't done that on the road yet this year. Tonight was sheer will at the end of regulation. But, had we shot better and made our FTs, we would have won solidly.

DePaul is really hurting all of the positives about the league. Really hope St, John's can beat Duke on Sunday.

He looked pretty good out top of the zone in the second half. In the first half, playing man, he got matched up against Henton, potential conference player of the year and all-american. What do you expect? Henton has torched a lot better defenders than Macura.

Wish a few of JP's threes would've fallen tonight though.

What about Trevon? He has looked awful lately. He needs to snap out of it.

As bad as JP looked on D in the first half, he played well in the second half. Also, Coach did him NO favors by having him guard Henton. That was brutal.

I may be naive, but I'm seeing progress. Just need to string more good stretches together.

Haven't checked this thread since pregame so I'm not sure the board's mood.

Prior to the game, I wanted 1 road win against Providence, Georgetown or Seton Hall. Difficult, but doable. After the anemic shooting in the first half, I was certain this game would not be it. Sucks that the team couldn't finish that comeback but it is what it is. Just aren't going to win many games with shooting like that at the foul line and behind the arc.

That said, they showed improvement. I'm still not sure if the defensive numbers were due to Xavier's defense or Providence not shooting well, but I'll take any positives this team can give me. I would love to finally see them string together two solid halves of basketball. It just has not happened in what feels like ages.

Have to win Saturday. No ifs and or buts about it. If you can steal one at Georgetown on Tuesday, even better.

True, but part of the problem is that other guards aren't always moving well or shooting well. Our so-called great shooters (Myles, Macura, Trevon and Remy) are not so great lately. When those players don't shoot well or move well Dee tries to do it all himself. Unfortunately he is not the clutch shooter Tu was.

Our shooters need to get more confidence and shoot better starting with the next game... And yes... Dee needs to be more patient and find a way to get more out of his teammates.
