Was at the game ... their press right out of the gates killed us with turnovers and those allowed them to get a bunch of easy baskets. Then, it was a pretty even game but never one where we went on a big run (maybe once we gained 10 points back). The second half was a pretty good basketball game. I thought we had good interior defense except that we gave up quite a few offensive boards. I think the pressure took us out of our offensive rhythm. We looked inside most of the time which isn't bad except more balance with inside-out would have opened up the inside. DePaul then pulled away at the end seeming to make just about anything they threw up and so it was tough as we never mounted a serious comeback. Overall, I liked our effort and the team played relatively tough but DePaul was too much - next time we play, maybe we go into a real attack mode and exploit the press and it'll be us up 10 points. It's been fun this year to watch the development of Anniina this year ... I think she played with much more confidence and aggression than I've seen before. I'm looking forward to being in Cincy for the Friday/Sunday "double header" this upcoming weekend v Georgetown/Villanova.

No shame in losing to DePaul and Seton Hall - they're tied atop the league standings (as is Providence who Xavier did beat about a week ago).

I think you were looking at the men's standings (the Big East standings page defaults to men's basketball regardless of which age you came from). The Providence women are 1-5 in the league.
But Xavier's three Big East losses are to three of the four teams tied for first (St. John's, Seton Hall & DePaul; they haven't played Villanova yet), and all three of those losses were on the road. Now that they've gotten a look at what it takes to compete at the top of the league, hopefully they can elevate their play to match it.

The Big East women's schedule is odd to me this year - all the games are Friday/Sunday. It's not too bad the weekends you're home, but the weekends on the road have to be rough. I can't imagine too many road teams are successful on the Sunday games.

Good catch - I knew Seton Hall and DePaul were near the top, but I completely whiffed on Providence.
