Should be a good game. Oregon's offense vs. OSU's power running game and defensive line. I love Ohio State football, and had my doubts against UW and Bama, but after those 2 games, I think OSU can beat Oregon.
Urban Meyer is the best coach in college football, and Ohio State is playing excellent football.

I think Oregon's offense is too high powered for OSU to pull it off. But if the Buckeyes can establish their run game and keep the Ducks O off the field, they got a shot.

Just FYI, Cardale Jones is a sophomore.
It is pretty impressive that his first two starts he won the Big Ten Championship and Sugar Bowl.

Listening to SVP today and he had McShay on. I had no idea that Cardale Jones was 23 years old. McShay said that it's not out the realm of possibilities (but a long shot) that Jones could declare for the draft as opposed to being a back up until he's 24. How crazy would that be?

He's 23? so if he actually graduates in two more years he'll be 25, which means if he doesn't win a National Championship it will be seven years of college down the drain.

I read in the Dispatch that Jones is 22. He went to prep school for one year after high school, then to OSU and is in his sophomore year of eligibility. Make not mistake, someone who "ain't come to OSU to play school" isn't destined to graduate, but he's already said he's returning to OSU next year. A better possibility is that Miller transfers and plays his final year of eligibility elsewhere. He did graduate this past December, so he can leave and play immediately. Of course, if Miller decides to stay and Jones has a big game versus Oregon, he may change his mind and go into the draft. Gonna be interesting come next spring if all three are still on OSU's team, but I doubt that's going to be the case. Oh, and they have two more five star QB's coming into the program next fall.

Dear God, if you're up there please, please, please in the name of all that is holy let the Oregon Ducks quack their way past the Buckeyes tonight. It looks like you have already forsaken us on the basketball side and doomed us to watch Kentucky win a national championship this year. Please don't make us watch BOTH Urban fucking Meyer AND John Calimari hoist trophies in the same year. It's just too much for us decent folks to bear. I don't ask for that much God, but you must strike down the Buckeyes with great vengeance tonight, Samuel L. Jackson style.

Nope it was extremely long. So far this game has been incredibly sloppy on both sides....wide open drops, fumbles etc. I will say though that ohio state's d seems to be settling in. The play calling all of a sudden by oregon is a little peculiar.

That and honestly the best thing that could have happened for ohio state was Barrett and miller both getting injured. Jones brings a down field passing game that neither miller or Barrett really have. Ohio state was very one dimensional until jones became qb...no way they would even be here if he was not the qb.

I'd take him before mariota. There is no way in heck if I am an NFL gm that I ever draft a qb that runs a spread in college. Okay, if that's your point we are stupid for reading it.
MOR tried to make a point about how basketball only has 5 players on the court or some shit, therefore our A10 recruited upperclassmen and our BE recruited freshman can't be expected to beat DePaul at DePaul.

Okay, if that's your point we are stupid for reading it.
MOR tried to make a point about how basketball only has 5 players on the court or some shit, therefore our A10 recruited upperclassmen and our BE recruited freshman can't be expected to beat DePaul at DePaul.
I was making a point that scoring at the end, the game wasn't over.
Ha, again, it was over if you knee it. That would have been the last play.
You. Are. Wrong.
Give it up. If you want to say they didnt knee it because F them and they need to stop OSU and OSU wanted to run up the score and they can do that if they want bc the other team should stop them, etc, etc then fine thats an argument. You look really foolish when you try to justify it as necessary because the game was still in question.

The game wasn't over until we scored. Game was still two possessions. Get all butthurt about it, think no other coach wouldn't have done it.
Doesn't matter. OSU drilled them. Even giving the ball away four times, still drilled them.

And on the previous drive with 4 minutes left and a 4th and 1, Urban let the play clock run out for a delay of game and he punted. He easily could've gone for that and you know OSU would've converted.

Over the weekend Baltimore didn't call a TO the first 3 plays of New England's final possession, lulling New England into a false sense of security. Instead of running plays (and some extra time off the clock) they took a knee. Baltimore called its final TO after 3rd down and got the ball back on a punt. They didn't score with their final possession, but they created the possibility. New England probably could have avoided the risk just by playing out their final possession.

Yes, Oregon was clearly trying to lull OSU into a false sense of security so that they could call a timeout after the kneel down and get the ball back on their own 20 down 15 points with 20 seconds to go if Ohio State happened to miss a FG that was the equivalent on an extra point. Lucky for Urban that he didn't fall for that old trick!

Oh yeah, he did that out of the kindness in his heart. Ha. It would have been a pointless risk to go for that, the punt was the smart football move. He didnt do it because he didnt want to show Oregon up.
Bad example.

I have to think that last touchdown was for Elliott's run at the Heisman next year.
Four looks much better than three when you look at stats. That game and those stats over the last three games will resonate next year if OSU makes it to the top again.

Really any reason makes sense and I have no problem with other than the game was still in question or doubt or Oregon can score quickly, etc.

What's the over/under now for years until OSU has to vacate and Urban Meyer misses his family? The college with fake classes, free cars, fake jobs, and tattoos for gear hiring the coach that originally recruited (paid) Cam Newton is bound to get busted again.

my guess is 3-4 years he will be out of there. When the newness wears off and he isn't able to recruit like he has the past two or so years, he will be gone just like what happened at Florida (which by the way he almost completely decimated that program). The guy is an egotistical maniac who had to make up the fact that he had some health problems and that is why he had to leave...not that he was in the middle of a mediocre season and the administration started to see how he had covered a lot of arrests, academic stuff up. Although, even Florida has more integrity than Ohio State does so I guess for Ohio State it will just be the record.

No, this was the cheaters bowl with both OSU and Oregon suffering recent violations. Mostly, I am tired of celebrating it as if it's actually an accomplishment. Meyer got caught up in an out of control program down in Florida where kids were getting arrested three times more than their win count and bails on them for two fake reasons. He then takes over a program that really should have had the death penalty. Do you really think he is all of a sudden squeaky clean and the school is?
XU isn't getting McD's kids. We aren't getting 5* kids on the regular, at least ones that aren't local. I am pretty sure our program doesn't have wads of flowing cash. It's a lot easier to get behind that even when we lose than it is watching a program like UK and World Wide Wes, Duke with Lance Moore getting a $30k promissory note in December of their last title year from a jewelry store, and KU with their McLemore and Arthur issues.
I will take clean over obvious dirt any day. Football is just way too dirty for my taste, and really there is no reason for it to be this dirty. Yes, all those SEC years with Alabama/Auburn/LSU etc winning had me shaking my head as well.

Free tatts, cars, the feds had them. The NCAA focused on Tressel knowing and doing nothing but instituting a cover-up. What was really funny, was that Clarrett the nutjob who narced them out in 2002 was pretty much spot on similar to crazy Canseco in baseball. It's funny how that works out sometimes.

Thing is, a national championship most definitely won't hurt his recruiting. Heck, the #1 2016 RB recruit out of New Jersey Kareem Walker, committed during HALFTIME of the game. He might be dirty, and I really don't doubt it, but his upside for staying at OSU is pretty big.

I'm going out on a limb and saying the AZ was not a fan of that last TD last night. Dude you are where you are after last night so no judgement from me. Meyer is from Ohio, So's his wife. He went to UC. His desire was always to coach at OSU. He started as a grad assistant there. He makes plenty of money. Lives in a great area. I know because his house is about a mile from mine. His daughters are out of the house and his son is in high school. OSU and Ohio are home so keep hoping for that Fantasy stuff you're typing because it's probably your only hope that a 50 year old man, living at home, working his dream job and making tons of money will leave any time soon.

Hey, it's a big a game for players wearing big boy pants. Helfrich doesn't seem miffed about it, not sure why all the sanctimony on Oregon's behalf around here. He's filed it away and if they play OSU again and he has a chance to shove it up Urban's ass, he'll do it. Like Rick Nuheisel said tonight on the radio, when he coached he felt that he coaches his team and the opposing coach coaches his opponent's team and he never worried about that sort of stuff.
I know this is a tired subject, but I'm a tired person. Is a game that keeps me up well past midnight on a Monday really the best time for a national championship? I watched the game while spending the night at the home of a friend/OSU fan, so it was a happy late night, but still too damn late. And Super Bowls on a school night suck too! There, I said it. Hey man, it's not that big a deal, some people weren't surprised a guy who's won three national titles at two different programs would do something like it. Which means something bothered these people, but not much, but enough to make it a point that any argument they could get behind is something they could understand, except ones that don't. Oh and Uncle Tony thought they should have taken a knee, so there you go.

Why not Friday night? I get that they have to avoid Saturday and Sunday because of the NFL playoffs, but one of the (few) complaints about the Super Bowl is that everybody has to work the next day. College football can do something about that, and have it Friday, when most everyone is off the next day. If it starts/ends late on Friday, who cares?

Maybe it has to do with the casual fan who might watch just because they are home and arent doing anything else? If its on a Friday a lot of people have plans and maybe wont go out of their way to watch? The big time sports fans will of course watch no matter what day but the fringe people might be less inclined to watch if they arent just sitting home.

Yeah, Fridays would be great, but that's where network shows go to die. You won't get the necessary ratings for revenue. And Monday is already established as a night for big time football, especially on ESPN.
It sucks, but that's just the way it is.
