Winthrop won at Clemson to improve to 2-0, and led for most of the game. The only reason it was as close as it was is because they let Clemson back in it. The Big South is having a great first week. Charleston Southern won at Ole Miss, UNC Asheville won at East Carolina (which isn't great, but is good by Big South Standards), and if High Point beats Hawai'i tonight, they'll win the Rainbow Classic.

Gardner Webb won at College of Charleston tonight. That's a real nice win. Liberty beat Delaware, too.

Love the Winthrop win! My wife went there and her mother used to teach there. My kids went to hoops camp there a few times and Gregg Marshall always used to ask "when are those Florida boys coming back?" evertime he saw my mother-in-law. I can see how he is a great recruiter and teacher.

Go ahead and chalk up a W for High Point.

This has been a fun 24 hours for BB in the Upstate.
Great win for Kelsey and the Eagles at Clempson.

This morning I went over to Wofford for the 7 AM game (part of 24 hour ESPN marathon).
Wofford looked very good, and handled Iona.
Yesterday Jerry Richardson told Wofford he would build them a brand new basketball arena (seating about 3,200).
Amazing place. Very fortunate to have him as an alumnus, and interested in giving millions to that little school.

ps. 7 AM games are way too early. If anyone was watching I put my X hat in front of the camera as the game ended.

Richardson must have some money to burn, as he had also committed to pay for a new Wofford arts facility. That area is going to have some nice construction jobs for the next year or so, while the school is going to have some pride in new offerings for students. Just what privileged families in that area need. (tongue in cheek)

It's early, but you can at least get a packed house with students and a few locals. Personally, I don't know why they have UMass host a game at 11 AM in a morgue as opposed to a West Coast university at 8 AM (i.e. UCSB, Fullerton, Loyola Marymount).

He does have money to burn, and after a bad heart scare a few years ago has slowed way down.
The students there will benefit greatly from his generosity. Already built (along with another guy) new stadium, NFL standard weight room, and practice fields for the Panthers summer camp.
In recent years, incredible apts have been built for the upperclassmen (4 apts to a building) in an area with green space, exercise rooms, etc.
Next year fraternity row will be torn down, re-located and re-built.
Great little school with superior education...especially for pre-med and pre-law.

Clemson is 0-2 against the Big South this year.

If Clemson were to leave the ACC for the Big South, it would be a mistake.

On the ACC.....Wake screwed up my 5 game parlay by losing at home to Iona. Other than Duke, NC and VA, that league sucks.

Right. Sorry. Forgot the Cards. 4 teams out of 2,000 in that league now isn't bad I guess.

27% of their league is in the top 9 of the rankings. They might not be very deep or as good as they have been in the past but I am not sure I understand the ACC bashing. Seems weird.
