This is one way to get headlines. Surely he's not stupid enough to actually believe any of this.

I thought it was very insightful, from a guy who makes a living getting his head drilled in.

I believe he made these comments while grilling up some chicken on his Foreman and catching the new episode of Tyson's cartoon on Adult Swim.
Well, that makes you wonder how mucn of that is being born stupid and how much is from being beaten stupid.
Sad either way.

Hopkins in about ten years if he's still alive.

I wonder who read the history books to him? He had to get those names somewhere, and he's not old enough to remember.

I thought black was back?
I think it's inadvertently brilliant. The only way not to be ignored in the sport of boxing anymore is to say or do something stupid enough to make the news. I almost was going to argue that you can garner quite a bit of attention as a black guy playing popular sports, but then I remembered the actual definition of "black" that Hopkins so diligently enlightened us to years ago. Donovan McNabb doesn't qualify, after all.

Raise your hand if you remembered Bernard Hopkins was still boxing.

Also. I miss Roy Jones Jr. He made boxing fun to follow.

If he was white you would have known. Racist.

I think this guy has a point, because...wait...The Browns backup QB just tweeted and ESPN is going live...

I am surprised he is still fighting because of his age but he did spend like 10 years in the clink so he doesn't have a whole lot of mileage. Guy was best at one time though.

It's not that he's black, it's because boxing has become irrelevant since the rise of ultimate fighting.

When's the black man finally gonna get a fair shake in the fight game?

I don't know if it has more to do with the style of fighting in UFC or if UFC simply has better matches.
UFC has a lot more household names than boxing now. By contrast, I've never even heard of the guy who is current heavyweight champion in boxing.

Well, I know about Mike Tyson, Hollyfield, Ali, Foreman and de la Hoya. Does that help my case? Rocky is the only white boxer I can think of.

It's newsworthy because you are both white.

What. My deep, dark "golfer's tan" doesn't change the equation?

Indeed it does. Without that, the modifier "pasty" would have preceded "white".

I can't believe it took almost to the end of the 2nd page for someone to come get here because that was my first thought. My second is it's pretty ridiculous to cry racism about a sport that is largely known for Ali, Tyson, Forman and King. If he is being ignored because he's black, it's not because of racism but because so many other dark skinned men dominate the conversation.

I guess you didn't read (or catch the drift of) my post...
I think this is just one of the many, many examples (look no further than plenty of threads and opinions on this board) that most people still seem to be very confused on what racism really is. Either that or we constantly and conveniently redefine it at a pace impossible to keep up with.

I thought it was too obvious to even mention that he was actually ignored...because he's a boxer.
