I've attended quite a few Xavier functions recently, and attention to our athletic team needs has been a somewhat prevalent topic at these functions. What do you guys feel is the most pressing need?
For reference here's a somewhat recent thread about Cintas improvements (http://www.xavierhoops.com/showthread.php?25521-Cintas-Improvements/page15&highlight=improvements) and Xavier's Strategic Plan (http://www.xavierhoops.com/showthread.php?28207-Xavier-Athletics-Strategic-Plan&highlight=improvements).

From what I hear, the locker rooms and weight rooms need significant upgrades.

Yes. From my understanding the facility is quite small and there is often a wait time for each machine or group of machines and weights.

I didn't know where to put this.
It seems they've redone the main website page. Not sure I like it.

I think it's a little TOO clean but it's much better for mobile users.

I'd say the latter is more important as more and more people use their iPhones/iPads/Androids to do their websurfing nowadays.

Too many ads. Anything that's too busy makes Safari for Windows freak out and this site froze up on me. Sucks.

Cintas could use a Final Four banner in the rafters. That would help immensely.

There's a total of 3 ads. and only the banner ad is above the fold. WELL below the average for the majority of websites.......

After about a day, I got the hang of the new website. I kind of like it.

1. Do not like the new website design--too bland. This must be a standard layout for the Big East. Noticed a couple other school have a similar layout.
2. Now that I have seen the Cintas Center Court in person I really hate it--too bland.
3. New t-shirts are too bland.
Maybe that is our new marketing direction..."2014 Getting Back to Bland!!!" We could drop the navy blue and change our colors to black and white.
Disappointed.

Yes, what is going on? I have sat in Cintas in several sections and sound system is not very good. During the CAVS game, when they had their own guy doing stuff during the time outs, I could not understand a word he was saying (was in Section 206). For Madness I was in Section 102 and couldn't understand a word the yougn lady was saying. My season tickets are in 201 and generally things are ok because there is speaker pointing right at me. Not sure what the issue is but it needs a big improvement.

OT but yesterday was the second time I've ever been at Paul Brown Stadium.
Maybe it was because I was in the upper deck, but the sound system there was absolutely terrible. You couldn't even hear the referee's calls. Is that the norm?

I think having women do announcing like that can be hard. Lower pitched voices just carry better over a sound system. The high pitched squeal of some of my fellow females is like an ice pick to the ear canal, and is only made worse over a PA system.
I don't understand why the sound system has always been such an issue. Since the place opened it's been next to impossible for them to figure out how to make it so that no matter where you're sitting you can hear what's being said. I'm almost beginning to think it's an acoustical design flaw that will never be fully rectified.

I thought the sound system was already updated or slatted for update. The Muskie Madness female contest announcer + current sound system lead many of us to place fingers in ears on occassion. That should not be required. The music didn't sound great either. They should not have purchased all the speakers at Radio Shack. That was a mistake. Realistic Brand equipment is not good.

I don't see that happening for a long time. No need, I don't think the demand for tickets is close to warranting completion of the bowl.

It was updated at least once since Cintas opened, but that update actually made the sound worse, IMO. I'm pretty certain it was a costly upgrade from ICB Audio, and they tend to know what they're doing. That's why I think it's more of a flaw in the design of the arena acoustically than the audio equipment being used.
Do NOT remove the beer taps.
(Many of the regulars may forget that's pretty rare.)

I would like to see them swap out hop bomber for another, better, local beer. Psychopathy or Listerman Planetary IPA, perhaps.

I don't get all the complaints about the sound. Could it be better? Probably as sound equipment is always being advanced. But Ive made a point to walk around during several games and listen from different spots. Never had an issue hearing music, Herb, or Lindsey/Brad last year(or the new girl at muskie madness) from any section on either level.

I wonder if Listermann's has the capacity to handle the arena. Plus their Planetary has morphed into Planetary Eclipse, a Black IPA. Such is the wonderful life of a small batch brewer.
How about getting in some Truth!

I'd be in favor of Listerman's getting a tap at Cintas. Though that's something they'd need to be interested in doing.

The girl that mc'd Muskie madness was absolutely clueless about what was actually going on. She was easier to hear than the girl who did everything last year though.

My thoughts....
The sound system is subpar.
The video board on the scoreboard is way small, relative to today's standards.
The soft pretzels are supple and succulent as a CJ Anderson 3-pointer.
The north wall could look sooooooo much cooler with pertinent graphics.
I haven't followed Scout - Cheerleaders addition - but Xavier's Man-Leaders tend to have spaghetti arms when it's time to 'toss the balls".

THAT made me laugh. The Man-Leaders comment made me curious and I had to make a mental note to check it out on my next visit, but I'm trying to put it out of my head before bedtime. I need some quality sleep.

I don't know, the bald cheerleader that has been there for 10 years gets the ball middle of upper deck. Pretty impressive actually.

I've got season tickets in the upper deck at PBS. We can always here the stadium announcer clearly, but not always the ref. Think it has more to do with the ref's mic than anything.

Agreed NKY. It really appeared like they didn't do any walkthroughs beforehand and she had no idea who was who. She called Makinde "JP" a couple times. Her voice is definitely better than the shrill from Lindsay Patterson of last season. I would honestly would prefer if they gave the job to Brad Redford, but just asked him to tone it down a bit as he ofteb gets a little carried away with himself.

Looks like the Throne of Snipe is being co-opted with a Craft Beer area. That won't make the SnipeMan happy. Craft beers are a bit toooooooo ritzy for Sniper, Freddy Garvin and Kahns.

"That's almost directly modeled after the riverboat deck at Great American Ball Park," Hicks said. "There's a lot of demand for group and premium hospitality areas."
This will give Muskie a place to hold his annual party for supporting members.
"We're trying to cater to the upper-level fans as well as those in the beachfront area that are courtside."
I'm an idiot. I didn't know there was a beachfront area in Cintas. That's why I go to Kiawah. Does it look like this?

So, if I am reading it right, the group party area will be that bridge at the north end of the arena they always clear during the games. (Except those two games last year where they used it for SRO). I take it that means they will need to add a row or two of seats along the bridge. $55 a person for buffet, drink ticket, and soft drinks. I take it that is on top of game admission? Groups of 25 or more. That would be cool to have a XH night there. (This area starts Jan 7)
The old Hoff Dining room is reopening, but the article didn't really say if there would be additional food downstairs, or if you are just allowed to take your food down there. Unlike former incarnations of the Musketeer Grill, the article says it will also open during halftime.
The Craft Beer Bar )Dartagnan;s Deck) - is set to open Dec 6. They make it sound like there is more room in back of section 200 than we thought. Mostly local craft, which tells me there be a couple taps for Miller and Coors for those that just don't like good beer.
And - apparently we sold 6,800 season tickets this year, up 300 from last year.
They are also touting the video menu boards and new POS system as steps towards improving concession service.
And that, is a whole slew of forward facing improvements for the fans.
Still hoping for cupholders in the seats like the Reds and Bengals have.

I like craft beer...but not enough to walk UP to the top of the arena from my 5th row seats for the stuff. Plus the craft beer typically is higher in alcohol content, which is awesome, but I usually drive to these games. I am fine with Miller Lite 16 oz cans at Xavier games (even though they bumped up the cost to $7 per beer).
Put that good expensive beer down on the concourse, and I would be more likely to drink them.

I wouldn't mind a craft beer or two. I always like to ask who I am supporting when getting a brew. Usually I go to the St Joseph's booth on the West Side of the arena since they are always friendly. But to be honest, I haven't really met any worker at Cintas that wasn't friendly.

I'm sure the original idea was do this in the main concourse area, but there just isn't a lot of room and it there would have likely been a concern around safety. Seats and chairs I'm sure are not encouraged near any exit.
I'm hoping they did it right and its an area where you can socialize, watch the game and enjoy a good craft brew.

Would be great if they served beer before the game in the old hoff. Especially if it was at the same prices as Ryans.
I remember a few times in my undergrad they had somewhat of a "tailgate" outing in the practice gym of Cintas before a big game. I think they limited it to 2 or 3 beers but they were cheap and it was a good time.
The more Xavier can help build that "tailgate" culture in the basketball realm the better.

There is quite a bit of space up there. I used to have seats in 201 and would often stand at the top to socialize and watch the game.
