I put no stock at all into any preseason poll. For that matter I put very little stock into any early season or midseason poll.

They are, however, fun to look at. They also serve as a reminder that college hoops is almost here!!

Nebraska checks in at #24.

If you were to send Tim Miles to the Middle East, he'd be able to bring peace to the area in a matter of months. Maybe sooner. Tim Miles would increase spending, lower taxes, and still somehow balance the budget if he were to become President of the United States. If Tim Miles were to move to Alaska, he'd stop the glaciers from melting AND raise the temperature so it's comfortable there on a year round basis.

All that is previously mentioned seemed much more likely than getting Nebraska into the rankings did two years ago.

He was also the only coach to be ejected in the NCAA Tournament last year, FWIW.

My brother is a Colorado State grad and was there as Miles was building that program from nothing into something pretty good. I agree with you, he's an excellent coach.

I see Gonzaga got it's yearly (over) rating in the top 10.

Gonzaga always moves up by default. They run roughshod over an okay conference and move up in the rankings as teams ahead of them beat each other and knock each other down the rankings. Little good it's done them. I believe they only have one Sweet Sixteen appearance since Morrison had his meltdown against UCLA.

I went into great detail on it in a thread awhile back, and actually bothered to look up the proof that I won't now, but Gonzaga is ALWAYS overrated. Every single year. It's as sure as the sunrise. Even though they do mov4e up by default, they still manage to finish the season ranked worse than where they started.

I still think Memphis is less deserving than the Zags, because at least Gonzaga will routinely beat some good teams in the regular season even if they crap out early in the tournament. Memphis just never seems to beat anybody at any point, yet they're always in the rankings.
