Just read an interesting article on ESPN, a power ranking the top 25 programs for the next three years, weighted by 5 criteria: Coaching(25%), Current Talent (25%), Current Recruiting Pipeline (25%), Program Power (read support from fans, institution) (15%), and Stability (roster and coaches) 10%. They scored an 80.8 out of 100, scoring in order from above, 68, 85, 83, 83, 97.
Which made me wonder, what does Mack have to do this season to make the program jump? Michigan came in at 10 with a score of 87, Michigan State came in at 9 with 91.3. When 25% of the score sits at 68, it appears that it comes down to Mack has to prove himself. The talent, support, and stability are all in place according to the outside world, what does this team need to do to get him viewed at the same level as Miller and Matta who came before him?

Insider article.
Duke at #1 - I'm stunned.
I wondered how the rest of the BE faired in this line-up, and then found this on HolyLandofHoops:
ESPN released a Future top 25 power ranking of which teams are best set-up for the future
Xavier 17th
Villanova 18th
Georgetown 24th
other non power 5
Gonzaga 12th
Uconn 14th
San Diego St 19th
Harvard 20th
UNLV 22nd
Memphis 23rd
VCU 25th

What's interesting is that the "non-power 5" make up 40%. That's substantial. It shows that not unlile BCS, Power 5 is a football term that will be thrown around come tourney time to justify overseeded teams from said conferences.

Memphis at 23rd. Everyone can now disregard the whole list.

Somebody we don't play anymore and whose fans are delusional a-holes.
That and some school who we do play that has a yellow toothed gnome as a coach.

A final four would give them a pretty good bump.

I love the completely subjective and basically made up weight system they used in this "article". You could have Brian Gregory coaching the best UNLV team in history, but Gregorys incompetence would outweigh those future NBA players because of "the pipeline"? Yeah...no.
