I think he's the only person I've actually met from this board. He had La Salle tickets for sale a few years ago. I picked them up at his house. It turned out that our moms grew up on the same street in Springfield. Great house, great seats, and seemingly a great guy.

He was just on yesterday (25 hours ago) according to the logs. Unbelievable how much tragedy has touched the Xavier family in the past 24 months.
I have been shocked and deeply saddened since I heard the news. I've known him and his family for about 10 years now and I can't even imagine what they are going through all over again. He was truly one of the great people and Xavier fans we had, and I was very fortunate to have called him a friend. Just sickening news.

Safe home Pablo's brother.
Didn't ever meet him, but he was great in helping me get a shirt from one of the auctions.

Difficult news to hear. Matt and I worked together on the infamous bus trip. Some great memories, and truly heartbreaking news for the McCormick family.
My signature has been unchanged for several years, but takes on a different meaning today.
Not enough prayers possible for the family.

Wow, awful news. Prayers to his family.
I have some terrible news that I just received today. I was told Matt McCormick, Brian McCormick's brother, died today after running a 5K this morning. This is tragic. What a terrible blow to a great family.
Please pray for the family.

Oh my. My heart is truly breaking for this family.
What shocking and horrible news. I never met him, but I know this family has had too much grief already. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. Way too young.
Hug your family and tell them you love them, you never know how many more chances you will get. So sad...

OMG! What happened?
I can't express how much this hurts. The McCormick family is Xavier through and through, but to have two sons pass on at such a young age is devastating. His firm Bahl & Gaynor are huge advertisers and supported on Xavier basketball broadcasts.
A mass will be offered and if anyone speaks to the family, make sure that you pass along our condolences.

Very sad news indeed. He seemed like a great guy based on his message board postings. For one family to have so much tragedy is truly sad and unfair.
I found this enquirer article that shows the influence and kind heart Matt had.

I looked at this Thread and thought "Oh this has to be years and years old, what could anyone be saying about the passing of Pablo?". Then I did a double take.
I cannot fathom this. I was on that bus trip, and man, he was a funny cat. I don't have the words to express my genuine sadness for the McCormick family. I hope they can find solace in knowing that both sons touched so many peoples lives and that we (if I can speak for others) are worse off with the loss of both.

I always looked over at the McCormick seats to see if Matt was there, as he reminded me of Brian.
Now, I can't fathom how it will feel to see that corner empty of 2 great X fans.

Prayers for the family. The McCormick's sit a few rows in front of me at Cintas (Sect 114). We watched Matt's son grow up game over game, year over year. Feel bad for Susan, his kids and parents. It was different after Brian left us and will be different without Matt. Frequently saw Matt on CNBC. He was good. Matt and I were Finance majors at Xavier. Complete shock.

I was and still am deeply saddened to hear of Matt's passing. Like Pablo, he loved Xavier to his very core and he will be dearly missed on campus and in the Cintas Center. Thoughts and prayers to his parents and his wife and children.
RIP Matt. I'm sure he's at enjoying a pint or twelve with Skip and Pablo talking X hoops up in Heaven now.

I am shocked and saddened by this terrible news. I met Matt on the bus trip and never even met Pablo. Matt and I would meet up about once a year and have a meal and talk about our Muskies. He was such a great guy and one of the best Xavier fans I have ever met.
Godspeed Matt McCormick, I am sure you are glad to see your brother today in the kingdom of heaven!

Everytime a loss like this occurs I remind myself to hug my kids and respect the fragility of life. At this point my kids are wondering why I wont even let go of them. It's frightening to think that over the past 20 years it never occured to me who may slip through our fingers, and I'm thankful that the thing which brought us all together was Xavier and Xavier Basketball. It would be cool if there were a place in the Tass which paid tribute to these fans and friends we'll never forget. Maybe there already is, and if so Matt belongs there- RIP Matt-

First time I met him and his brother was after the Texas game Atlanta in 2004... hilarity ensued.
I just traded emails with him on August 15th, after seeing him make an appearance on Bloomberg TV. I told him he was a great ambassador for Xavier nation. This news has really shaken me. I feel terrible for his family.

I first heard from Matt when he thanked me on this forum for a piece I had written on Pablo after Brian's death. He sent me other comments via pm after other posts but I never had the privilege of meeting him personally. And now this. I am shocked, although I shouldn't be after all my experiences over the past 50 years. I've had some health issues recently and have been away from both XU sites as well as the internet in general. Final procedeure 9-12 will keep me from the services. Am sending one of Kevin's angels to his wife, and of course adding him in daily prayers. Just saw today of another X alum passing, Mike Mestamaker. I often find comfort quoting a man who saw more than his share of ddeath as a WWII correspondent, Ernie Pyle----"Damnit, anyway."

Good call. Lot's of prayers to say this week.
! Been away from the net the last few days. Very sad. Live each day like it's your last.
The funeral mass at Bellarmine was beautiful. Standing room only. Saw more than a few posters, including Snipe, Pimp, and Lamont. Also great to see former posters such as The Truth and Meat Whistle.
Matt lived an amazing life in 44 years. Raise your glasses and toast a job well done.

I hated to miss it, but I was in my sister's wedding and I'm sure Matt would have understood. Glad there was a great turnout to celebrate a great man!
