In the third of five road games to start the season, Xavier's women's soccer team fell to Toledo, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon. The Musketeers (0-3) stayed within striking distance of the Rockets (2-1-1) throughout the match thanks to a strong performance from senior goalkeeper Katie Markesbery (http://www.goxavier.com/sports/w-soccer/mtt/katie_markesbery_760430.html) and the Musketeer defense."It's frustrating to be in all three matches and come away with nothing to show for it," said Xavier head coach Woody Sherwood (http://www.goxavier.com/sports/w-soccer/mtt/woody_sherwood_540425.html). "We struggled at times to create good chances in the first two games but we know we don't have to outshoot teams to beat them. Today we created the best two chances of the match but we failed to capitalize. We have a chance to bounce back quickly with a short turnaround for the match on Tuesday."
The Musketeers played Toledo to a scoreless draw through the first period. The Rockets broke the tie in the 65' mark when Isabella Echeverri scored on an assist from Geri Siudzinski to give Toledo the lead, 1-0.
