Disclaimer...a couple of my buddies from Cbus came down yesterday for a night of debauchery. We started at Rhinegeist Brewery around 5. Went to Yard House for about 3-4 hours...then decided to frequent an X area establishment. So yeah...my buddies and I were marinated. Met Dee, London and Macura. They were not doing anything they shouldn't have been doing. Dee seemed annoyed/angry but was not rude. London was very quiet but nice. I spoke with Macura at length. I'm now hoping like hell that kid is a stud. What a nice, soft but well spoken, mature and humble kid. I was thoroughly impressed. Said he absolutely loves X. I'm now a big Macura fan.

I loved the video of Macura. He looks like he can score in a lot of ways and we can use some of that! I hope he can handle the defensive game so he can get on the floor to do what he does best. I'm also glad they were better behaved than the "adults" who stumbled upon them.:drinks: (and I wish I'd have been there.)

Was this at Fudruckers? Was any jumping off one foot involved?

Yeah...they were the adults. And stumbled is a very good term. I was mainly impressed by his maturity. If I was at Gana's (i made up that name) at the age of 18-19, I would not have behaved like any of them. Macura was just a nice, down to earth kid. I didn't ask about jumping off of 1 and/or 2 feet. Mea culpa.

And Dee's scowls likely had nothing to do with some drunk 40 year old guy. Honestly, he wasn't friendly, but not rude. I think he was making sure everything was good with his two younger companions. I was impressed. But yeah...I was inebriated.

Don't be too hard on yourself for failing to ask the one foot vs. two foot question when much of you attention had to be directed to putting one of your own feet in front of the other.... and then having to do it all over again! And maybe even again!

I actually think it's very cool that it seemed Dee was looking out for the young guys. (I'm assuming now, of course.) That's an important part of the role. We don't pay as much attention off the floor and away from the cameras, but this is a huge transition for these young men and it's easy to mess up. A little oversight and guidance is a good thing.

I also like that they are learning the Xavier way early on. The gym, the weight room, the class room and "Gana's". Not necesarily in that order, in my case, but all the right things.

You also have to take into consideration that Dee has now been approached by random, drunken 40 year olds for 4 years now. I'd react the same way he did. JP and Makinde are probably still basking in the glory of campus stardom.

I talked to JP and Blueitt briefly at Deveroes literally the day they got to Cincinnati. They were excited to be there and were rather surprised at how many X fans showed up to a summer league game.

I know Dee personally and he's actually a joker, but it's hard for him to open up to people. As weird as that sounds, so I don't think it was a angry scowl or anything, he was probably just reserved as he usually is with new people, but other than that he's a lot of fun, I saw the entire team last night and they seemed pretty laid back and were having fun.

A sure sign the offseason needs to end: people are analyzing Dee Davis' facial expression when he was approached by a drunk stranger.

Just so I'm clear...we didn't accost these guys...hell, we couldn't accost these guys. They sat/stood next to us. They just had no idea they settled near 40 year drunk guy.
