How would the US media handle transfer windows? It would be insane. We freaked out over LeBron for two weeks and there were only two places he could have gone. Imagine bringing in players from any other league in the world, no salary cap, and multiple clubs going after the same player. ESPN would explode.

It would be interesting for sure... but I'm sure they'd do what they do best. Find some favorites and push those guys to the moon. We'd know what Tim Howard ate for breakfast every day the Transfer Window was open...

What site are you using? The EPL Fantasy site only lets you select 3 from a particular team. I assumed ESPN did, too, but I didn't test it when I picked my team there. I did pick up Ashley Young on my team. He was half a million cheaper than Januzaj and I think he's tailor made for Van Gaal's 3-5-2.

So really trying to get more into the entire European soccer scene. Been a big fan of Bayern as my dad's family tree leads to Bavaria (bayern Munich state in Germany). At the same time it is very hard to catch a game without looking at a grainy internet feed.
That said, would like to invest into a team in the EPL as they are much easier to watch live and on my directv guide. My question is how does one go about selecting a team to root for? I don't want to be that "bandwagon fan that celebrates a Miami Heat second title after being a fan for two years" type.
Needs advice from some current EPL fans
Let me add that I love bayern's style if play and tactics.

I would say just watch matches and let a favorite come naturally. I am a lifelong Bayern fan (because of my mother) and went through several EPL favorites before settling in on Arsenal. Some of it had to do with a visit to The Emirates and having several English friends who are huge Gunners. Most of it had to do with falling in love with their style. As for English cubs that play the Flex 4-1-4-1 Bayern does, you won't find many. Arsenal and Chelsea have both toyed with it but it takes versatile--and supremely talented--players in the midfield, something Bayern has in abundance. Few clubs in history can boast of the world class talent level Bayern has right now.

It's hard not to be a bandwagon fan when you try to follow a team that you can watch on a regular basis. Not that it's bad thing, you can be a fan of teams that you watch, what else are you supposed to do right?
I'm a QPR fan because a good friend is a huge fan and I went to a game years ago at Loftus Road. But I picked Charlton when I was trying to figure out what team I would follow, and I liked their history, etc. I still follow them somewhat, they are not as good as they were around 2002, but have pretty sweet kits this year I may add.
Just don't be a Chelsea fan. You are born a Chelsea fan. It's like not growing up with cancer and choosing to love cancer when you get older.
Pork had the best analysis in my opinion. It's hard to pick an English club based on the style bayern plays.

QPR does, in fact, rule.
Winning, however has been tougher in the PL for the Hoops. Heard today that QPR has only won - wait for it - 4 of their last 40 matches in the Premier League.
I thought they looked great Saturday in the 1st half v. Hull. Hull's goal was completely against the run of play but Rio really needs to get on that ball. Remy looked like Remy looks. My fear is that if he gets sold during this window, we don't have anyone who can score goals. I am sure Redknapp had Austin take that penalty to help him build confidence but that sure as hell backfired badly. That dude who ran on the pitch at the West Ham/Spurs match hit a cleaner direct kick than Austin did....

Their back line just falls asleep for stretches of games -- it's bizzare, because they've looked like one of the best sides in the league for about 90% of the minutes thus far and a relegation candidate for the other 10%.
Plenty of time for them to right things, though -- and the top 4 is wide open w/ Man United struggling and the absolute certainty that Arsenal will underperform.

United will be in it. No transfer buys were available yesterday (along with Rafael, Evans, and Carrick) and it's looking like Di Maria is a done deal. Shaw, Rojo, and Herrera will change the look of that lineup.

They need defense bad, and really they need guys who can roll with that 3 man backline. Van Gaal might have to change his tactics if those guys can't do it.
Same with Pep, the Bayern defense doesn't look good running the three man back. Good coaches run a scheme that best fits the talent he has.

Rojo, Shaw, Rafael, and Evans were out yesterday. Smalling is garbage. Jones is inconsistent. There's been a lot of talk about going to a 4-3-3, but I hope that doesn't happen. They aren't paying Rooney 200k/week to play out wide. I think a 4-2-3-1 makes a lot of sense and plays to the strengths of pretty much everyone in the lineup.

Never fear, QPR is here. The good news: Hoops score away goal. Losing to QPR at home might be grounds for immediate dismissal of your manager.

Boy Emp, I have some bad feelings about our Rs. Not starting Zamora was terribly stupid on Redknapp's part yesterday. Those deflections yesterday were brutal but it's not like we deserved a point. My fear of relegation is doubled by the financial fair play penalty that seems to be looming. Talk me off the ledge....
Any win on the road is welcome news for our Rangers, but 2-0 is a miracle, even vs Sunderland. Also moves them out of worst goal differential status. Up the Rs.
I'm going to be in London all of September, house sitting courtesy of a classmate. I'm going to catch at least a few matches at Loftus Road before they move to the new stadium in 2016. I am fervently hoping that they are Premier League events, and not relegated competition.

It's a tough cross to bear but someone has to.

What happened to the Munich team recently? They seemed to be world beaters for such a long time and now they are losing consistently. I am not an avid European soccer fan, but I do somewhat like the Bayern team since we have good friends in Bavaria.

Bayern's had some injury issues. And many of their best players were in the World Cup. It's been one long season and I think some of them are just tired. However, when Bayern is motivated, they are still better than anyone else in the World (and with that I've basically assured Barca of a Champions League win this Wednesday).

Mediocre showing for Everton. Not surprised, just disappointed.
