I think this belongs in the Men's BBall thread...Lionel is the starting PG for what I assume is a french teams, Champagne Chalons-Reims, and just hit a 3 in some overrated freshman's face. It's good to be see he's improved his shooting and still has a smooth handle. Doesn't seem as explosive, although he's yet to really have to accelerate on the dribble. Playing within the system, check.

Kentucky beating the life out of a decent professional team is kind of scary for the rest of us.

i know it is ridiculous to say in August, and I may get chastised here, but if Kentucky doesn't win the National Championship this year, it is going to be a major major upset. Not saying it can't happen, but the team is absolutely loaded. That pains me to say because there is not a basketball team I love to see lose more than them. However, this is the most talented team that Kentucky has had since Cal got there and that is scary.

No way. Their national championship team was/is so much better. If the guys that have returned (the Harrisons, Cauley-Stein, Poythress, Lee, Dakari) were all so talented, why haven't they turned pro like the freshmen did from the national championship team? Talent doesn't stick around in college.
I would even take the 2009-2010 team with Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe, Patterson, etc. of this coming years team.

I completely disagree but I can understand your position. I would say that National Championship team had the best player (as of right now) that has come thru Kentucky, but not the best team. If you look at that roster without Davis, the team is good but not anything spectacular. David was/is that freaking good. During that season, I said Davis is the next big thing and I basically got ridiculed on here. The guy is a freaking monster. Talent does stick around sometimes though I will agree it is rare....Cauley Stein and the twins would have easily been first round picks. They chose to come back because they wanted to win a title.
I will say that starting five in the 2009-10 team was probably the best starting five Kentucky has had and it may beat out this year. However, the thing about this year's team, is that they are incredibly deep and overall have the most talent since Cal has been there in my opinion.
In the frontcourt, they have Dakari, Lee, Cauley-Stein, Karl Towns, Trey Lyles. In the backcourt they have the twins, ullis, booker and poythress.

The twins staying at UK didn't have anything to do with talent. They said that knowing after the NBA draft they will be separated for the first time ever, they decided to play one more year together. Now that team with Wall and those other NBA players were very talented too. I'm as good a UK fan as I have to be I living in KY but I'm ready to see X get deep in the tournament again. After watching X clips and a couple UK games this summer, I thought pro teams overseas were better than what they are.

Yeah but the twins aren't even close to the same level of talent as Wall or Bledsoe.

That's true. Wall and Bledsoe both have elite level athleticism imo. Bledsoe is built like an NFL defensive back. I would love to see Randolph have similar type strength as he gets a little older too.
