Doug Wojcik Fired by College of Charleston

Wojcik's high school coach was Skip Prosser, and his name was thrown around for the Xavier job on a few occasions. Apparently Wojcik didn't learn much from Skip.

His brother Dave coached at X in the mid 90's under Skip and then left to coach under Dino at Loyola. Dave is now the coach at San Jose St. But times sure have changed when coaches are getting fired for yelling at their players too much.

I tend to think Wojcik is getting a raw deal here. I heard Feinstein on the radio today, who I don't always agree with due to some of his stubbornly biased opinions, but he's not a bullshitter either. He was saying that he knows him well and has seen him around his teams and would be shocked if he crossed any lines that basically 95% of coaches don't do the same on. He defended his character, cited his family values and military background among other things, and just basically said he doesn't buy it. Who knows, but I could definitely see this being another situation where the school felt its hands were tied to play it safe even though only the most oversensitive people (which is seemingly everyone now) would have an issue with what really happened.

They lured Wojcik away from Tulsa to take their job. Maybe they can do the same with Frank Haith.

College of Charleston = distribution of 37.5 percent male students, and 62.5 percent female students.

One of my daughters is a graduate of the CofC.

I think these percentages stack up well for a father either way. If you have a daughter enrolled, then there is a good chance she is studying...if you have a son, there is a good chance he is not.

I think Wojcik is a crappy coach. His teams at Tulsa were never as good as they should have been. It didn't seem like they ever played as well as the sum of their parts. His teams at CofC weren't any good either, and this was a program that, while not great, was one of the better teams in the SoCon.

The timing is terrible. I'd be tempted to just have an interim coach for the upcoming season.

Cremins has been mentioned as a possibility for that exact role. He's pretty white, though (particularly his hair), so that may be a problem.

I certainly do not envy their situation. I envy their location, but that's about it.
