As a Xavier fan, I love the new logo! The epic failure that is the new logo really encapsulates all that dayton is and ever will be.

When the logo was revealed, my husband sent his friend (who is a ud grad) a text that just said "Dude". Friend's response "Just don't. Have compassion. Thanking God we don't have to play at Cintas, see the presidents and hear "You are VD". Gives the Red Scare a whole new meaning."

I've read a lot about this and am very confused.
No where is there an explanation for exactly what they are trying to do with the "D."

The basic block font on the uniforms is the same as many schools (see Dartmouth) with little blocks coming off the bottom of many letters.
Dayton seems confused as on the court all letters are separated, but on the jerseys two letter in each word are joined at the top. Needed consistency.

But the "D?" I guess they were trying to preserve the "U" by putting a line through it.
But the little pieces coming off to the left to line up with the wing thing make no sense.
You could have had the wing without the stubs. And they end up giving it a gothic look like Duquesne or Duke.
Should have gone for a more modern look.

If dayton fans weren't such pompous, uninformed, mediocre-loving a-holes 99.9% of the time, I'd feel sorry for them. I mean, I'd be upset if X came up with something idiotic like VD for our logo. However, being as that they are pompous, uninformed, mediocre-loving a-holes there is nothing left to do but laugh at their pain.

I'd also like to know why they couldn't have adopted this new logo when we were still in the A10. Not that we needed more ways to taunt and humiliate them, but it would have been awesome to have used this at Cintas! Think of what could have been done with a VD logo and the Bill Clinton head in the student section! The possibilities are limitless. I almost feel cheated.

I went over to UDPride today to see if they mentioned the shirt, didn't see anything.

I can make the change to the logo, however, I think what is so great is that I didn't have to change anything. That's just the good old VD logo.

You mentioned the stupid book about an E8 Run and their desperation, and now we're treated to this!

I'm trying to imagine a better place for a Xavier fan to be in right now, and I'm hard pressed to find one. Xavier is in the Big East, which means, in part, that Xavier left the poor humpers behind. We have a strong recruiting class in house and solid positioning for the future. And we otherwise have these truly desperate UD fans in a terrible position: damned if Archie stays and damned if he leaves.

If he stays, he stays because no one else wants him, because he will have not performed. The UD tools will be left to figure out why they got Gregoried all over again, especially after having fluked their way to an E8 run after a 3 decade drought at that. And if he goes? Well, that probably means he will have achieved a sufficient amount of success beyond last season to pluck him out of Dayton. But that means that the Priders will be beside themselves; they will not be able to fathom how Archie MILLER could ever leave Dayton for a high level program. Yet he is a MILLER with high career aspirations. I don't fault him for that at all; I didn't fault Sean for that. It's just that they think they can keep him, even though history with the family 45 miles down the road at a much stronger program proved otherwise at one point. The burst bubbles will be blasting away if/when the moving van shows up in Dayton for this Miller family edition.

And then there will be the replacement process. Sir, come coach at Dayton, where you will proudly wear a VD shirt.

As much as all that appears rich and in waiting to a Xavier (UD) sadist, frankly, they're in the rear view mirror now more than ever. It will all end up receiving a chuckle instead of a hardy laugh.
