Archie should have bolted while he had the chance. Maybe he can finish above 5th in the A-10 this year with their weak-ass conference. With 6 weeks to go, he was one step from being hanged in effigy. His E8 recruiting sucks.

Everyone is putting Archie on a pedestal. They had a great run. But it was ONE year. If he does something similar or close again, then so be it. I'm just not sold on him...yet.

I like Sean Miller, but I wouldn't take him over Coach K. And Roy Williams going 19th?

This can't be serious...Archie?

Why?

Oh because he's Sean's little brother. Got it. Other than that, he's had four months of good coaching. Talk about picking someone who has a good combine.

Also, how Matta is #12 makes no sense to me.

As for the Miller bros. Picking Archie is just plain silly, while big bro is way oversold. There are too many accomplished coaches ranked behind Sean, including some with NCAA championships for his ranking to make sense.

The fans in Dayton wanted Archie replaced when UD was losing last year, now he is a saint?

He had a calming effect late in the year.

They tend to look at what happened most recently. This time next year Mack will be way up there after our Final Four run. And the year after that? WOW!!!

That was a Doyel pick, and Gregggggggg loves OSU/Matta.

Not only does Rothstein take Sean Miller over Coach K, but he says Miller will be king of the mountain when four more experienced coaches retire in a few years, and Coach K isn't even mentioned in that group. Really?

For starters, Tim Miles would have made my list. I'd probably have him up near where Hoiberg is. I think he's about one year away from getting Nebraska to where Iowa State was this past year. He started off way behind, and he's already ahead of their pace. But, that's just me.

Dayton was really good at attacking the zone, so it's no surprise that they beat a Syracuse team that was reeling and a Stanford team that a horrible shooting team, and that UD matched up very well against. The Ohio State win was good, but wasn't all that shocking. However, the other two wins were very predictable. What's funny is that had Saint Joseph's not beaten Dayton in the Atlantic Ten Tourney, Dayton probably gets a #10, and would have played UConn in the first game, and Nova in the second game (if they were able to win), which were horrendous match ups for them. Kind of funny how things work out sometimes. Not to take away from it, but they did get favorable match ups.

He didn't have four months of good coaching. He had about four weeks of good coaching to start the year, and six weeks of good coaching to end it. Even then, they had to sweat out wins against the likes of IPFW (who turned out to be somewhat decent, but it's still a team that UD should have crushed).

They finished sixth in the Atlantic Ten, and advanced to the Elite Eight and had two very favorable match ups in two out of their three wins. I'm not knocking that, but I'm not going to praise it as an example of exemplary coaching either. I know you're not saying that either. I'm just pointing that out to further your point.

There were coaches that didn't get nearly that far that I was more impressed with when you look at where they started, how they built their teams up, and how well they did over the course of the entire season.

You mean the same Tim Miles who managed to get himself tossed in the NCAAs last year? (even if he and Nebraska were jobbed in that chain of events)

Yeah, that's the one. I credit him a ton for North Dakota State being at the level they're at, and that Colorado State went from being a sub 250 team to a bubble team/tournament caliber team for three years. He gets really bad teams to where they're a tournament caliber team. His problem is that he never sticks around after that point.
