A huge get for the conference:

What should it tell the skeptics and idiots from outside the Big East who want Fox to fail when major broadcast talent keeps jumping onto the Fox payroll?

Love this news.

As far as Fox is concerned, having Brando call Big East games is merely a bonus. They wanted him for the football package, period (in this case, Big 12, Pac-12 and B1G Championship).

Granted football drives the bus, but the guy has a five day a week National Radio show. It can't hurt that he will be talking BE bball on his show once the season starts, and interviewing coaches and players and ADs, etc. etc. etc. More pub for the BE.

And Tim Brando is first, and foremost, a college sports guy. He loves it.

He may call football games, but Gus Johnson is the main play-by-play man for college football Saturdays. Brando was the CBS Sunday College Basketball play-by-play guy his last 8-10 years working for the network.
