It was great meeting; Cheesehead, Surf, Gunner, Ol Singledigit and several other Musketeer faithful at the Steak Fry.
Mack gave a nice overview of the newcomers. Sounds like Myles, James and Matt have been working hard.
Can't wait until 11/8/14!!!

Was nice to meet Road Warrior. I will give a more full report later in day but 3 things stood: 1) Mack and staff are jacked about the recruiting class but it will take time to figure out what lineups will work the best; 2) He mentioned how the chemistry on this team was fantastisc and "something they may not have had in year's past" (which I found interesting) and 3) when talking about the TN point guard recruit, he joked he was not sure why Counzo Martin would ever go to Cal. That got a pretty good laugh. Also had funny story about meeeting Shaquille O'Neal w/ daughter at NBA playoff game in San Antonio. He stated the dumb thing he did when he 19 years old in college paid off (Mack has Superman logo tattoo on leg). His daughter apparently said Shack, look at my Daddy's tattoo and Shack came over to them and then invited them back stage and did some photos.

Coach posted some good pics on Twitter of their meeting with Shaq. Mack looked like a kid meeting him for the first time, all wide eyed and smiles. He also looked like a 12 year old next to Shaq...Shaq is still huge.
Good story on how they met each other.

ok, back to update. Brian Neal, the women's coach was very energetic and he said they will get the program back to prominence and they are working on re-establishing local ties w/ HS coaches. Mack talked about each player: London:long and lean, needs to get stronger but compared him to Kevin Durant, inside-outside threat. JP Macura: pure shooter w/ no conscience. Lit up state tournament and spurned strong push from Minnesota. Sean O'Mara: big physical presence. Played HS football and basketball and not afraid to mix it up. Edmond Sumner: can play 2-3 and Mack said he thinks the kids is still growing. Huge upside and also need to to get stronger. Trevon Blueitt: natural scorer, finds unique ways to score, uses body and angles really well to draw fouls. Talked about Remy and stated he guarded Semaj last year and Olapipo at IU. Very good defender and has nice stroke. Also mentioned Tenn recruit, called him a natural point guard who will be ready to take over for Dee. Won't score a ton but will get the ball to the right people at the right time. Mack said he has never had this many new players at tone time and season should be really exciting. Trip to Brazil will allow team to blend and figure out the personnel. They will play 2 higher professional teams and a lower amateur team. He also stated Semaj slated to go anywhere from 35-50 and if he slips out of draft then Semaj is better off trying to make NBA team as a free agent.
They had a nice turnout and almost all of the tables in the gym were full. Food was decent, beer was cold and they gave out some nice hats too. Not bad for $40.00. I will be back!

Next big event?
The AFO Golf outing in August. We're electing to play Hyde Park CC this year.
