I wasn't feeling well this morning and worked from home. Totally forgot the kick-off was today. I've got it on the big screen.

Muskie

Looks like the match will actually start at 4.

Also looks like Neymar may have pulled something warming up.

Neymar limping around is a little frightening for the host nation. He is great to watch so I hope he is ok.

Muskie

He appears to be ok now.

Does Croatia have a shot at all today?

Does Croatia have a shot at all today?

Only if Sepp Blatter grabbed his wallet and worked some magic.

Muskie
06-12-2014, 02:56 PM
Good to see the Croats know their own anthem.

Muskie
06-12-2014, 02:58 PM
Sepp Blatter approves of the anthems. Clapping courageously.

Now we're going to release some doves in the name of peace and friendship. If only they had thought about that to start the Crosstown Classic?

The camera seems far away. Guess I used to the angle NBC uses.

Brazil has one 57 straight competitive matches at home.

Nothing says soccer to me like the classic Brazil uniform.

Croatia and Brazil exchange point blank misses.

Muskie

1-0 Croatia after I believe an own goal by Brazil (Croatia stuck the pass in nicely to set it up).

Porkopolis
06-12-2014, 03:13 PM
Wow, own goal by Brazil.

Does Croatia have a shot at all today?

They do when Brazil scores on themselves!

No floodlights in part of the stadium. SO apparently the place wasn't finished in time. The marquee stadium for the world cup was not finished for the first match.

I may get beat up for this, but that is why the World Cup should stay in the Northern Hemisphere.

Brazil has woken up on offense. The last couple of minutes have seen some pretty solid shots. Croatian Goalie has been great so far.

Neymar with the first Yellow of the World Cup.

And one of the worst calls of the Cup so far. Sets up a PK for Brazil.

That will be the worst call of the Cup when all is said and done. Incredible.

I cannot fathom had that could have been called.

Yeah I'm not sure what he saw, other then the guy falling down.

On the other hand I'm thankful there is no challenge in soccer.

Yet.

Getting physical in both goal boxes now.

Muskie
06-12-2014, 04:39 PM
Croatia could easily score again. Brazil's backline is porous so far (mainly from lack of effort).

Muskie
06-12-2014, 04:43 PM
Croatia cannot catch a break...

What's everyone think of the refereeing so far?

Wow... I thought we were going to go level at 90... WOW>

Brazil just clinched with a goal during stoppage time. 3-1

Backbreaker for Croatia. They could have gotten a point out of the match and now they wind up -2 in the goal column after allowing a soft goal in stoppage time.

Feel like this match was fixed, or Pletikosa (the Croatia keeper) was paid off, dear lord he was terrible, could have saved all three of those goals, especially when you put 2 hands on a penalty, or the very soft goal from Oscar.. no quality goals, absolute shame of a first match. Bleh.

I'm trying to think of how to say it nicely. I know... "The referee was just outmatched by the game."

I sat with a National assessor during a recent match and loved his statement on a controversial call/no call situation. Reach down and squeeze, tell me if you feel anything. (My apologies to you LA Muskie) This referee was clearly out of his mind with that call. The worst part is that he actually had a very good angle on the play. Wonder if we will see him again...

You're in Springboro? I'm pretty sure I know who you were sitting with.

Bad call. Horrendous goalkeeping.
