Thomas just can't get it together. X dodged a bullet when he decommitted.

Where does this kid go now? You would think Europe or China but if Josh Selby can't make it in those places how would Chris Thomas?

The name Kareen Canty seems familiar as well.

You might be thinking of Jay Canty who transferred from X to App St. a few years ago.

I think Kareem Canty was recruited by X and was close to committing until his "handlers" got involved. And then he ended up at Marshall. Great advice there.

Maybe to the All Star Team at the Correctional Facility?

Dayton. They've got a couple of open slots.

I feel bad for the kid. A lot of wasted potential there. I hope he gets it together.

I may have hinted at that already.... or maybe it was something else. Similar, but different.

I smile at this because I truly feel that we no longer will get involved with kids like this as evidenced by our decision to pass on Purdue transfer and even Swift. Lyons et all excited us many times but I think those days might be behind us. Might we have a good team that we actually might enjoy as people as well?????

PS I heard Marshall is a God awful place

I have a friend who graduated from Marshall University and loved it.

I'm not doing a lot of smiling about this story. The kid was a great talent. I obviously don't know him or his background, but it's always disappointing to see a skill and a dream go unfulfilled for a kid.

While we may kid a little, I'm pretty sure everyone here agrees this is a terribly sad situation and a waste of a gift. I hope he can get it together before it's too late.

My guess is X passed on Swift because he was never that good.

It's actually a pretty fun place, kind of dangerous, but cool bar and frat scenes!
Anyways, Thomas is so silly, so much wasted potential, I don't understand how people with excess talent can not pull it together for a few years to try to solidify a career where they could make a lot of money. It's very frustrating.

Yep. I went there and loved it. A very different experience from Xavier but a fun one. Of course I got to be there when the football program was awesome so that helped.

Handlers may have gotten involved as well but I believe we also knew he wasn't going to qualify his freshmen year (which he didn't).

While the Marshall program lost a ton of talent between Canty and Thomas, hard to say the program won't be better off going forward with their rebuilding effort

I tend to feel a lot more sorry for people who bust their asses, work hard, and do everything right to try and succeed, but who still can't get a break or a chance to play because they don't have as much talent.

His div1 hoops career probably isn't over. Someone will give him a chance. Another one. If you're good enough, someone almost always does.

I was promised by some on this board that he would be Xavier's first one-and-done, and first top-5 NBA draft pick. And a pony.

For the record, he didn't actually decommit..........we pulled the offer.
