Norwood police shut down the Quality Inn tonight, claiming it was a den of illegal drugs and prostitution, I suppose a brothel was in line with the condition of the place.

Was there still a restaurant in it? Did they close that too?

Remember when someone (Brinkley's?) sunk a bunch of money into that place to remodel it when the Matta show was there? What a terrible idea.

Ah memories...when we first started X-treme Fans we sold the sponsorship to the T-Shirts to Highlands Bar and Grill which was the restaurant in it at the time.

How many different restaurants have been in that place since the mid 90's?

We stayed there once many, many years ago. The "Quality" was missing even then. And yet we still managed to have a very good time.

The past couple years Cancun has held HUGE Halloween parties for Xavier Students. Those may have been some of the coolest/biggest parties I went to while at X. The place got absolutely trashed while having a couple hundred hammered college students in it. I'm not sure how they were able to open up the next day.

With the opening of the courtyard over by rookwood, this move by the police just made the Quality Inn's death a little bit quicker. Does X still have plans for a hotel on campus in the development area? I hope so. Otherwise it could get pretty pricey to stay in that area when I visit!

If you aren't allowed to have drugs and hookers in a hotel, then I must ask where are you allowed to have them? I thought this was America! Thanks a lot Obama.

At one time this place was actually nice. Used to get my haircut at the Barber shop in the basement when I attended XU.

(Cincinnati Enquirer)

Alleged drug trafficking caused the Quality Hotel and Suites in Norwood to shut down Monday.

Norwood police chained the front doors shut after a temporary restraining order was granted "against maintaining a public nuisance" on the property at 4747 Montgomery Road, according to court documents.

One employee at the hotel said the situation was being blown out of proportion.

"When something suspicious happens we call the police," the employee said.

"We just get (hotel guests') IDs. We don't ask if they're a drug dealer. I don't know what these people do."

Carol Albers, a Xavier University alumna, came all the way from her Wisconsin home to attend a funeral in the area. She reserved a room at the hotel for Monday and Tuesday.

"What am I supposed to do now?" Albers asked.

Albers said she didn't pay for the room yet, but was required to enter her credit card information to make the reservation.

A sign posted on the hotel asked people who need assistance to contact the Norwood Police Department at 513-458-4520.

Lance Blair and Courtney Criswell, both of Norwood, walked over to the hotel in an attempt to get a job application.

Blair, who lives nearby, said the hotel doesn't have a seedy reputation.

A preliminary injunction hearing about the hotel's fate will be conducted Monday, June 16.

When I was at XU, the restaurant was Dockside IV and it was really pretty good. Upscale and good food. Barber Shop in basement was first rate too.

Look for an Extended stay. You'll find the drugs and hookers down the hall from the meth labs.

I think Dockside was the last restaurant Frisch's operated when they developed and owned the property. At some point in the 90s, Frisch's sold off its hotels, and it was downhill from there. Their revolving restaurant on the riverfront had creditable fare to go with the view while they operated it.

I don't know why you'd think a hotel on X's campus would be any cheaper than the one at rookwood. I'm sure it'd be pretty dang comparable price wise...especially basketball weekends.

Yeah. I would think it would be very expensive. Also probably a waste of valuable real estate. Xavier has like 5K undergrad enrollment still, right? Hard to imagine that sustaining a hotel.

If I recall correctly, a poster on this board was over-served and vomited in the mens room clogging the toilet, which created quite the mess. Those parties were great. And I agree, no idea how they ever opened up again after those nights.

Thursday was Dart league night back in my day. We may have started a tradition. You're welcome! (Friday class attendance was spotty at best...)

I've heard plenty of rumors that Cancun will live on, which is obviously great news for X students.

When I interviewed for my job at Xavier back in the day, they put me up the first night at the Quality Inn. It was such a dump that I called my wife and told her that under no circumstances would I take a job here. I changed my mind after getting to campus the next day.

I attended one Matta show when it was there then proceeded to have myself tested for an array of diseases afterwards....great yet bizarre place
