Well, after 7 years, we had a power surge at my house Thursday that fried my Pioneer Plasma. I am a little ashamed to admit it, but I was nearly inconsolable. I absolutely loved that tv. I looked into getting it fixed...problem is, Pioneer no longer makes plasma tvs. So, I would have to pay someone $100 to come out here and give me an estimate. The guy couldn't come to the house until May 28th. Then, because the parts aren't easy to get, I was pretty sure I'd be told it would cost anywhere between $500 to $1,500 for parts. Including labor and the initial $100 estimate fee, I just decided to get a new one.
I got a 55 inch Samsung 4K Ultra High Def tv. Holy chit. The picture is so clear, its going to take some getting used to. You almost feel like you are on set watching the movie or tv show. My wife and I were a little freaked out by it. The technology of HD tv's is crazy.
For anyone looking at getting a new tv in the upcoming months, I'd definitely recommend looking at the Samsung 4K 8550 model tvs. A little pricey...but wow. Can't wait to watch the Heat/Pacers game tomorrow on it. Gonna feel like I am court side watching the game. Plus, at HH Gregg, they have no interest for 24 months. I'll chip away at the cost over the next 2 years and then pay it off once interest begins to accrue. Not a bad deal at all.
